Friends to Lovers, It’s Always Been You Trope
Not even done with reading the beginning chapters of this book, and I was already in love with Breaker and Lia. Imagine the movies, “Maid of Honor” and “My Best Friend’s Wedding”, and that’s essentially what this story was about. Breaker and Lia had been best friends since college, and when I say best friends, I mean they were so close to one another that they lived right next door to each other. The friendship between Lia and Breaker was spot on and heartwarming right from the beginning. Even the way Lia and Breaker met for the first time in college was lighthearted and a bit funny. If you’ve read the previous books on Breaker’s brothers, wait until you read this book because, I’m pretty sure you’re going to love Breaker, I SURE AS HECK DID!With the friends to lovers trope at the forefront of my mind while reading, I couldn’t get over the friendship aspect between Breaker and Lia, I loved it so much. As much as I love seeing friends to lovers trope in books, I felt like the way Meghan wrote Breaker and Lia’s friendship was entirely new and unique to the beloved trope that I had never read before. One of the many things I loved about Breaker and Lia was that for them, they had always just seen each other as friends and their friendship meant a lot to them. Obviously later on, Breaker and Lia become more than friends, but early on it was clear just how much time they spent together and they liked the same things. Even the way they casually planned out nights to play games or watch documentaries spoke to the level of comfort and ease they shared with one another that I found to be so sweet. Lia was the one person aside from his family that he could depend on, and always have his back. I might be overstepping, but… honestly I feel like this was one, if not THE BEST friends to lovers story I’ve ever read.Man this book had me laughing and cackling at the stuff that went down with Lia and Breaker. Without any spoilers just know that Meghan didn’t disappoint with this book and please do yourself a favor and if you can get the illustrated version because not only will it enhance your experience of reading the story but you’ll get to see some of the chaos that ensued in this book and OF COURSE SOME DELICIOUS SPICY SCENES! One of the many things I love about Meghan Quinn and her books is the humor she imbues in the characters and the storyline. I couldn’t get enough of it, and safe to say, I was giggling and fully content while reading. The moment when Breaker realized he was in love with Lia was like a light bulb went off in his head, and thank goodness for that realization. Even though the beginning focused on the friendship between Lia and Breaker, it was clear as day how close those two were. From their inside jokes, special nicknames, and traditions of playing different board games, anyone could see that Breaker and Lia had undeniable chemistry, even when they insisted they were just best friends. I think one of my favorite moments was when Breaker had his epiphany of him being in love with Lia. When Breaker saw Lia in her wedding dress, that was a sweet moment especially with they way he was speechless when seeing her. The way Breaker was with Lia was absolutely loving from always having her back to complimenting her in the most beautiful ways, I was swooning and equally wishing I could have Breaker for myself.IT’S OFFICIAL! BREAKER CANE IS THE MAN! THE ONE AND ONLY MAN WHO IS FANTASTIC AND MY GOODNESS I LOVE HIM! At first glance, Breaker seemed just like the sweet and nice guy, but… OH MY GOODNESS! HOW DID I NOT SEE HIM BEING A DIRTY TALKER AND MORE AHHH YESSSS! Yeah Breaker was confident in and out of the bedroom and Lia was gladly enjoying herself. Spice was immaculate as always per Meghan’s writing, and she yet again raised my expectations. Even with the spice, I also loved the devotion and commitment that Breaker showed towards Lia. I mean, the way he planned out their first date was not only sweet, but well thought out considering he remembered things Lia had said when they were in college. Breaker loved to spoil Lia and she rightly deserved it. I was all smiles and happy seeing Lia and Breaker being all lovey dovey and passionate with each other. Lia and Breaker finally got their chance to be together and I was enjoying every single second of it!This truly was a long time coming indeed. Breaker and Lia’s friendship over the course of many years was heartfelt and touching. To see Breaker finally take the initiative to go after Lia in a more romantic way was all kinds of fun and of course a long time coming haha. Lia and Breaker had the best foundation of friendship to build upon the romantic relationship and even when they got together officially, their friendship was still very much present. I loved seeing how close Lia and Breaker were from their love of board games, knowing the most intimate and detail oriented things about one another, it’s shocking to me that they didn’t up end together sooner. Seeing some familiar faces such as, Huxley, Lottie, Kelsey, JP, Myla, Ryot, and Banner added to the fun, and I loved seeing the close friendships between everyone. Everything about this book was phenomenal and again if you can, I would highly suggest getting the illustrated version *wink. The epilogue was a great way to end the story for Breaker and Lia, but also show that their love story was just getting started with even better possibilities. I’m over the moon happy with Breaker and Lia, and with each book from the Cane brothers, I’ve loved each one’s stories, but I have a feeling Breaker is my favorite out of all of them. Give this book a read! Happy reading!

The perfect conclusion to the Cane Bros!
Meghan Quinn does it again! Unfortunately, I haven't been loving her latest releases... I LOVED A Not So Meet Cute, and sadly didn't love So Not Meant to Be as much (Kelsey was annoying and JP deserved better), but I felt like this series ended on a high note with Breaker and Lia.A friends-to-lovers story about two people who have been friends since college, who bonded over nerdiness and games, who were there for each other when they really needed a friend. That desire to comfort each other through difficult times left them both in the friend zone.As you read, you get the sense that neither Breaker nor Lia ever thought about taking it to the next step... until Lia gets engaged to a man she doesn't even fully love (she doesn't even want to tell Breaker she's engaged and she hates her ring and the groom's mother is insane.... RED FLAGS ALL AROUND). Even though Breaker and Lia never saw their relationship as more, everyone else in their life sees it - their chemistry, their bond, and how they rely on the other in a way someone might rely on their partner. These two were partners even before the MQ spicy spice entered their relationship.Things I loved: MQ spicy spice, the humor, the pop culture references (like Wonder Years), the two best friends playing whatever the latest game is together (it's their thing), getting to see the other main characters from this series as their relationships have blossomed and developed, Lia's bravery, watching Breaker truly pursue Lia with intention, the whole man-of-honor plot line and the outrageous mother-of-the-groom, text messages! Gosh, I'm a sucker for text messages! :)Things I didn't love: THEY WERE ONLY FRIENDS, STRICTLY, FOR NEARLY 70% OF THE BOOK (and therefore, I didn't really feel like Lia had feelings behind the walls she erected to keep her and Breaker AS JUST FRIENDS ONLY - I just never felt like she had FEELINGS for Breaker that scared her until he started to make moves on her? Maybe I'm alone in this feeling, but maybe not?), the humor sometimes just goes a little bit too far, Kelsey being annoying again...Featured here are both editions of this book. I love that Meghan has started producing illustrated editions of these books! Some of the illustrations are NSFW, and some are just downright sweet. I love to be able to visualize both situations!

Coming in HOTTTT
5⭐️4🌶️Breaker and Lia have been friends for ages! They’re quirky and nerdy - I could not get enough! My inner geek was so pleased with all of it! Best friends, neighbors, and then *light bulb*!Breaker - the billionaire and youngest Cane brother has never felt the need to seriously date. Although he is a total alpha in the bedroom, no one sparked any interest beyond physical attraction. So why on earth is his Ophelia causing his heart to flutter… she’s his best friend!Lia - the beautiful orphaned nerd with a wicked win streak on all things game related - was content… until her boyfriend’s mother decided to put the pressure on and now she’s engaged. Life is moving too fast, her fiancé is completely indifferent and insensitive. Her only saving grace is Breaker - constantly supportive and complementary. They know each other inside and out, so why is he pushing the boundaries of what their friendship has always been? Why doesn’t her fiancé make her feel as amazing as her best friend?Breaker is definitely the top Cane brother! He’s so thoughtful and yet so commanding! I loved Lia as well - she’s a secret smokeshow! This book had the perfect amount of sweet and spicy! We also get a villain - The Beave - I hate her.Would definitely recommend to any romcom billionaire Romance lovers!

Friends to Lovers Perfection
A Long Time Coming is Breaker's story, the third and youngest Cane brother. After loving both Huxley and JP's books I was curious to see how Breaker would differ from his siblings. This book is a friends to lovers romance and Breakers love interest is his best friend Lia. Breaker and Lia have been inseparable as best friends for a decade after meeting at college, the start of the book begins with the start of their friendship and took me a few chapters to get into the feel of the story. After this initial introduction to set the scene, I became invested quickly when Lia gets engaged and reveals the news to Breaker. There are plenty of laugh out loud moments involved when the future Mother-in-Law is a socialite fixated on status and public perception and Lia isn't the most poised and delicate of brides to be. Thankfully Breaker is there as her Maid of Honour to back her up on getting a little say in how it all goes down on her big day. This premise provided a lot of my favourite moments within the book, both with humour and emotion. When things finally click for Breaker and he realises he has feelings for his best friend, was a beautifully written scene. Meghan portrayed the moment with so much authenticity and totally captured the essence of that moment. Then what follows this for the remainder of the book is swoon worthy and ERMAGAH steamy hot goodness!!There wasn't really a gut punch break up Meghan Quinn special in this story just a few hiccups along the way but I think that worked well for Breaker and Lia's story. It was great to have Lottie, Huxley, Kelsey and JP back too, for family dinners and plenty of banter. No-one does sibling conversations quite like Meghan does!!Another positive about this book was the excellent audio narration by Erin Mallon and JF Harding. Erin I am a fan of and have listened to several of her titles, she is always a joy to listen to, especially in those awkward comedic moments. JF Harding voicing Breaker however, was a new to me voice. All I can say is I hope I get to listen to many, many more novels from him. He narrated Breakers character perfectly! He was so endearing and then at the same time the loveable hero we all crave from a good romance. One scene in particular where Breaker gives Lia some instructions as advice was very pleasing on the ear *wink wink*Overall a fantastic addition to Meghan Quinn's repertoire and one I would revisit and recommend. A Long Time Coming has all the elements you need to tick off those friends to lovers trope boxes, check, check and check.

This is by far my favorite Meghan Quinn book to date! I have loved all of the Cane bothers stories but Breaker and Lia just bring pure joy and sweetness with a touch of spice.
