Brilliant Activities for Reading Comprehension, Year 4: Engaging Stories and Activities to Develop Comprehension Skills

I was sceptical about spending out a lot of money on a study book when previously I had been spending no more than £5, but this book is well worth it. I've not come across a similar book and it fills a gap in our home study. It will last my son a while and I like the idea that the book progresses up to age 11. The questions provide lots of talking points and I like how some of the questions rely on imagination. Out of all the study books we've had, I think I would recommend this one the most.

I like the variety - great for catch up practice

Useful 'links to the National Curriculum' section at the start so you can quickly find a text to suit, either by objective or text type. Range of questions (although most of the texts I have used so far are mainly literal) with word work and extension activities. A bit challenging for most of my Year 4s at the moment but it's early in the year!

I was a bit worried to pay all those money for this, very much worth it. Tests the compression in a beautiful way, not coloured but I like books like this as well. Very pleased 😁the stories are so impressive and amazing and even as a parent i am leaning a lot of adjectives, this has been a spine-tingling experience. worth every penny

I am a year 4 teacher and this is perfect for my class. The texts aren't too long and are interesting for the children, with a variety of different written styles. The questions can be answered with the range of depth which is good for getting my more able children to give more detailed answers. I will be ordering the year 3 version for my less able just to build their confidence before bringing them back onto this.

This book is fantastic. It has a wide variety of texts, set out in many different ways. As well as questions directly on the text, there is 'word work' to help children understand what they are reading, and many questions on inference. A brilliant purchase.

Book full of ideas for follow up activities; the texts are engaging and motivating for kids; could do with better graphics - but happy with the contents anyway.
