4 Film Favorites: Cop Comedies (National Lampoon's Loaded Weapon, Police Academy 5, Police Academy 6, Police Academy 7)

I have been a fan of the Police Academy movies since I was a preteen (don't judge, you probably saw them that early too!). I already had the first set of movies but was lacking these last three. It's easy to say that movie number 7 will get limited watching, if at all now that I've watched it once. It is the poorest of the series and a clear testament as to why it was the last. Movie by movie you see the characters drop off and by this movie there was no Mahoney, no Hightower, no Zed and on and on. Even Jones is a joke in this one - what happened to the motormouth!? Very sad way to let the series go out.The fourth movie in the set is National Lampoons Loaded Weapon which is pretty good. There are some parts that I just go ugh at but it's still a good movie. The whole set is worth the price for the two good Police Academy movies and this one. Just ignore the Russia one, please. Just don't go there. Okay, watch it once then kick yourself for time you will never get back.Now for the discs. There were two double sided discs. There's subtitles, which I totally admit is my thing. I have to have subtitles. No I'm not deaf but I watch 99% of my television at zero sound thanks to having a small house and lots of minions.Now buy the set!

What I disliked about the product is I thought I ordered the five through seven not the one, two and three. I even looked at my order and it shows the one I wanted. I would like to have the one I sent for. I would like to exchange it for the right one. If at all possible. Thank you.

I'm a huge fan of the Police Academy films. Grew up watching them in the 80s. The films are funny, goofy, and juvenile, but still fun to watch. I think they were popping these films out once a year, maybe?After Mahoney (Steve Guttenburg) left, many figured it was over. It probably should have, but it wasn't. They brought in Matt McCoy and never spoke about Mahoney again. For me, 5 and 6 are still funny. Would it have been better with Guttenburg? Probably not, by the time the third or fourth PA came out, they were getting stale. But, for whatever reason, I still love the first six movies. Each had their funny moments. Whether it was Jones and his vocal arsenal, Hooks' squeaky voice, Hightowers stature, Harris and Proctor's bumbling police work, or Mahoney's hooker in the podium gag, they were very funny.The fifth movie, Assignment Miami Beach was okay. A few parts were funny, but mostly it was just gag after gag rather than a funny script. It just doesn't feel, to me, like a strong movie. I guess because by the time this one came out, the world was getting sick of the goof troop of cops.The sixth movie, and my last one to watch, as I refuse to watch Mission to Moscow, is the worst one yet. Another film that just seemed to be crudely put together on a desperate whim. I guess they all needed money. The charm of the first few films had ran their course, and I guess they were trying to milk the "cash cow" for what they could.Like I said, I haven't and won't watch Mission to Moscow.National Lampoon's Loaded Weapon is a decently funny flick. By this time Lampoon was starting to lose it's charm as well. Now, Lampoon should be called buffoon. Gone are the days of the funny Lampoon films. But, this movie isn't all bad. Just not great either. I did have to get them though, to complete my PA set.More for nostalgia than anything else.

This is in addition to my other 4 movie set that we have accumulated for our retirement next year!!

The movies themselves were good silly fun, no complaints as far as that's concerned. They weren't nearly as good as the first few in the "Police Academy" series but definitely worth watching. The condition of the packaging wasn't that great and a few of the disks were already scratched and smudged when I received them. It's unfortunate that an item I purchased as a gift for someone else came all messed up.

Loose a star for packaging (but I guess you get what you pay for...) 3disc's - One is double sided with one movie on each side. The other 2 are on their own disc. They sit in a regular dvd case on top of each other.

Wow The Police Academy 5, 6 and 7 plus a program add-on, ho yes yes./Wow L'Académie de Police 5 , 6 et 7 plus un complément de programme , ho oui oui.
