Excellent Picture Quality, Day or Night
Let's face it... No one *wants* to have one of these in their car, but the reality is, sometimes it's just needed. There are lots of things to consider before getting a camera, such as legality. In some places, having these might not be legal. In other instances, say you were in an at fault accident, and you had a camera, they did not. Well, your own footage can be used against you in court. And refusing to provide the footage or attempting to alter it in any way can get you in hot water, too. But, once you've read up on everything and have made the decision to buy one, you want something with excellent video quality. Something that can pick out the detail on license plates. Something that works well day and night. Something with incredible picture quality. VIOFO has you covered. I specifically went this model due to the reviews I'd found outside of Amazon. It was a pretty spendy purchase, but I opted for this over the Garmin Tandem for a variety of reasons. Garmin would have been my second choice. First, I like that you can actually record 3 cameras at once. Inside the vehicle, behind, and in front of the vehicle. Second, the picture quality of the 4K camera is downright excellent. I was able to use the footage from this camera for my insurance adjuster when I was involved in an accident, quickly proving the culpability of the accident and saving me a deductible. So, I'd say the camera has paid for itself. It's not perfect, in that the secondary cameras for the rear and inside the vehicle are NOT 4K, so that's something to be aware of. Additionally, it seems sensitive about getting power cycled when hitting large bumps as I have frequently done in my travels in Mexico. I also wish it had its own internal battery, even if it only lasted some 30 minutes, to give it a little smoother operation, and that they included the hardware mounting kit with the unit (it's sold extra.) Other things I might improve would be the storage capacity (512GB is the limit, even though 2TB cards are on the market now). Wireless video connection to the rear camera would make installation a lot easier. GPS for the videos would be a nice touch too, as well as the ability to embed the info related to the video rather than burning in info and obstructing the video itself, for thinks like speed and time of day and whatnot. Still, I'm overall pretty pleased with this purchase. It's been about 18 months for me now since I've purchased it, and I still it's probably one of the best, if not the best, on the market, even if there are a lot of things I'd like to see improved.

Clean design. Pretty good!
This is after 2 weeks of use of front camera only.I give it 5 stars as in comparison of what is out there in the market, otherwise 4 stars.Props for clean design of buttons and LED status lights on the main camera.[Used with 512GB Kingston MicroSDXC Canvas Go Plus 170R A2 U3 V30]Front camera video quality is very good (with Anti-Glare CPL filter):- there is little to no glare,- you can recognize license plates easily in recording in daylight- in night time recording, license plates are harder to read depending on the lights and reflections, but it is still good.Interior and rear camera:Did not yet installed it; If I plug in interior or rear camera, it seems like main camera unit gets into reboot cycle. Prior to installation into car, it was working fine on the standard iPhone charger during initial test so I suspect there isn't enough power available in my car even when using car charger that comes with the package. Maybe I'll try "VIOFO HK3-C TYPE-C HARDWIRE KIT" install option. The Viofo phone App (iPhone):- easy to use- there is live video view on the App so you can install cameras on the correct place- you can configure all available camera options including WiFi mode and password- 5GHz WiFi channel is supported which makes transfer of videos much faster. You can select multiple videos to transfer at once.Found issue/minor:Firmware upgrade deletes all user settings (like a full reset), at least in my case where I upgraded from v1.0_0301 to v1.1_0615.Suggestion for VIOFO: It would be nice if firmware upgrade could be done through the App (currently you have to copy firmware on SD card). Until you are able to preserve settings on the camera during firmware upgrade, you could implement a feature where you create a camera profile on the App and save it, so after the upgrade you can just apply it to the camera.
