So nice for smoothing the edges of the rim.
Love this for my pottery. This sponge holds up very well as well. I've taken it through the ringer lol.

Good quality sponges for pottery. The shape could be improved.
These sponges are pretty good quality and a decent, less expensive option when compared to the same set from Mudtools. I've used both sets and find them all to be really useful for throwing and finishing. The big difference is in the shape. These sponges have squared off edges, while the Mudtools ones are tapered. I definitely prefer the tapered edges, myself. If these sponges were a more refined shape with tapered edges, they'd be perfect. These sponges get the job done, and seem to be pretty sturdy, so I think they'll last a while. The blue and orange are fairly similar in texture, generally, so I tend to use them interchangeably. I wish one of them was slightly denser in texture, so I would have that option. They both tend to be squishy and loose. I find the white, with the finer, denser texture, is the most useful one for me.

Nice sponge set
As a potter, it's nice to have various sponges for the wheel. I've only really over used one type before, but these add additional options that I didn't know that I really wanted. I'll be using these with my other clay tools as long as I can. I may even buy more if and when I need to replace them.

Sculpting with Ease and Precision!
I got this Ceramic Sponge Set for my wife through the Amazon Vine Program, and she really likes them. They're a good choice for anyone working with pottery or sculpting delicate shapes. One of the standout features of this product is its ability to help achieve smooth shapes and subtle arcs. By utilizing tools of different arcs, this set allows for precise adjustments and unparalleled control over the final result. She found this incredibly helpful in creating the shapes she had envisioned. The color distinction of the sponges is another brilliant aspect of this set. Each color represents a different density, making it easy to find the sponge that suits your needs quickly. The white sponge, with the highest density, proved to be incredibly delicate and perfect for fine detailing. The blue sponge followed suit with its slightly lower density, while the orange sponge, with the least density, provided a softer touch. This color-coded system made her work much more efficient and enjoyable.Using these sponges is an absolute breeze. Simply soak them in water, let them expand, and they're ready to use. The entire process is straightforward, making it accessible to beginners and professionals alike.I recommend this sponge set to anyone working with clay, pottery, or sculpting. Its ability to help achieve beautiful arcs and shapes, the color-coded system for distinguishing densities, ease of use, and high-quality material make it an essential tool for artists of all levels.

Not a true Mud sponge
Pretty much useless for pottery throwing. Would not recommend or re-purchase.

Fine
Works fine, but it's kind of an adjustment. You have to keep the sponges a little damp for them to stay soft. If they completely dry out, then it takes a little longer to get them fully soaked and soft again. I just don't know if I'd recommend these in place of a normal sponge or if it can compare to the MUDTOOLS sponges.

Sponges Work Great With Polymer Clay, Too
I ordered these 3 different textured sponges for use with polymer clay and they work really well. Each sponge makes a subtle texture in the clay, which finishes off the backs of pendent pieces nicely. I also am using these sponges under my roller while pushing clay into a texture stamp. If the texture stamp is quite deep and I use my fingers to push the clay slab into the stamp, the sponge is helpful for keeping my fingers from sticking to or lifting the clay out of the stamp. I also like the size of these sponges as they are large enough to cover enough clay area but not so large that they get in the way. It is easy to clean them when needed with a little dish soap and water and they dry out well yet hold their shape. I am very satisfied with these sponges and am using them regularly.

Good Mid-Level Sponge Set for Throwing and Hand Building
Good set. At the current listed price of $12, it feels like a decent deal. This review is based on the set being used on red clay and stoneware. The white sponge (most dense) is great for centering and throwing on the wheel. It holds enough water but thin enough to feel the clay beneath. The blue (average density) and orange (least dense) don't feel much different from each other when wet. Something even more dense than the white sponge for shaping would have been nice. But the blue/orange still work great for clean up work and hand building and they are thin enough to get into smaller areas. They won't go to waste.Worth a try!
