High quality, only the best for my students.
I use these in my students locksmith training aids kit. When I teach them I supply a full home training kit and this is one of the locks I supply because it's high quality, beautiful to look at in it's case and has a real wow factor when the students open up there training locks. UK Bump Keys or Chris does have a blog on picking locks that works well of you are new to picking as the lock does not have any instructions. But it's pretty easy to figure out and you can simply go to YouTube to find out how these locks work. But this lock is ideal as you can change out the pins to make the lock easier or harder to pick. It's definitely central to single pin picking and less responsive on conetic attacks so as raking etc. All my students at Taylors Locksmith Training Academy in Cornwall and Gateshead lobe them, both schools use these and the feedback is amazing. Chris has done an amazing job with the details, having his name on the cylinder, the packaging. The whole thing is amazing and would really make a perfect gift for a lock picker or a seasoned locksmith who can display the item. We use them in our history section of our locksmith campus. We have a area dedicated to locksmith history and this sits nicely in our euro cylinder section so students can see how a cylinder lock works. Overall the lock is amazing, high quality with all the parts required to change out the pins via the bottom of the cylinder. The tweezers are also very high quality. Highly recommended.

Useful for a beginner
An extremely useful lock as it allows you to get the feel of how the pins move in a more true to life lock. Definitely worth it for a beginner to practice

Excellent Kit Let Down By Lack Of User Instructions
This Practice Lock kit (Model No. 482) arrives in a plain grey looking, Dangerfield branded, cardboard box. Inside the box is the practice lock, a selection of pins/springs (in a little storage case, a key, pair of tweezers and a Allen key. The lock is very well made, feels robust and has a good finish throughout. It measures 7.3cm long by 3.3cm tall and is 17cm thick. There are two different locks at either end, each with 6 cutaway pin slots making it very easy to see what you are doing. There are a variety of pins and security pins included and the locks are easy to repin with the included Allen key and tweezers. Although the selection of pins is good for a beginner, I would have liked to see a few more advanced pins included, to offer a challenge to those looking to go beyond beginner level. Disappointingly there are no instructions included with this kit. Whilst I was not expecting to find lessons on the art of lock picking itself, I was expecting to at least find instructions on how to use and repin the practice lock. You can find third-party instructions online (including some on YouTube), but that is no excuse for not including instruction with the product itself. Another niggle, albeit a much smaller one, is the cardboard box the kit comes in. Whilst there is a foam insert with cut-outs for all the items, which stores and presents them nicely, the box itself does not have the same presentation quality. It also feels a fraction too small, meaning it does not close fully. In conclusion, this is a very well made practice lock picking set, that should last a long time and prove very useful for those wanting to take learning to lock pick seriously. However the lack of instructions on how to actually use the kit and set up the pins is a big ommision, especially as this kit is aimed at beginners. As a result, I can’t give it the full 5 stars it would otherwise deserve. ~ Ethics Statement: Amazon provided me with this product to review and asked in return that I give my honest and impartial opinion about it. That’s what I’ve set out to do in this review, so I hope you found it helpful. ~

It's interesting.
It's very interesting, but sadly, I have no idea what to do, and it doesn't come with lock picking tools. This is mostly for repinning.

The perfect lock picking set add-on
On opening the storage box up you are presented with a metal masterpiece. It is engineered beautifully and has been machined to the highest quality from (stainless?) steel and brass, with lovely milled edges. Fantastic workmanship, it’s a very impressive item. I have no professional need for a practice lock, this was obtained purely for hobbyist reasons to accompany a previously purchased picking set. With this level of quality it does feel as if it has been produced more for professional training reasons, etc. But as an add-on for anybody it is fantastic. Takes a bit of getting used to. It’s a precision item but with two sides to experiment on, so options are endless. It is functionally perfect. No instructions are included so you will need to visit the internet if you are a novice like myself. The kit includes a small plastic box with a variety of different pins plus a couple of spare springs and locking hex nuts, which can be seen in the accompanying photograph. Also included is a very high quality pair of, what looks like, stainless steel tweezers. It’s nice and easy to re-pin with the included Allen key but make sure you do this on a surface where they will not roll off. This practice lock really is a work of art, pricey maybe, but with all things you get what you pay for. It makes a fantastic addition to any lock picking set and, in my opinion, would be suitable for any level of lock picking ability. I very much doubt you would find a better example anywhere.

Very well Made. High precision and enough options to get a solid start. At least for a beginner like myself.
