Product description X CD Parlophone, 513 9522, 2007, 13 Track .co.uk Traditionally, Kylie Minogue has been at her best attempting pure pop, not chasing credibility, but X--her tenth studio album, and the first since 2003s Body Language--somehow pulls off the trick of being both. With production credits split between old hands like Richard Stannard and Guy Chambers and new faces like Calvin Harris, the Freemasons and Bloodshy & Avant, the Swedish team behind Britneys "Toxic", X does a neat job of matching big hooks with forward-thinking production tricks. The poptimistic Kylie fan will head straight for "2 Hearts", a sassy falling-for-you number with a glammy beat and a chorus poised to fill a thousand Karaoke rooms, and "Wow"--a thumping disco number with a lot of love to give. Scattered alongside these, however, are some slightly more adventurous productions that demonstrate that despite a few years off the stage, Kylie is well up to speed with 21st Century pop: the excellent "Speakerphone" begins with the sound of a strummed harp before diffusing into a shimmering, Scandinvian-tinged electro-pop number reminiscent of Robyn or The Knife, all snapping, sassy beats and vocodered vocal; meanwhile, the ghetto-pop bounce of "Nu-di-ty" proves raunch is still by no means beyond her. A very welcome return. , --Louis Pattison P.when('A').execute(function(A) { A.on('a:expander:toggle_description:toggle:collapse', function(data) { window.scroll(0, data.expander.$expander[0].offsetTop-100); }); }); Review Who’d have thought that little old Charlene would, in two short, sweet decades, go from the original soapstar superstar to a well-loved British treasure whose album releases are up there with the goings on in Parliament in terms of national interest? It’s probably something that intrigues Kylie herself, given the fact she’s still a proud Australian, but over here, we tend to get a bit more involved with celebrities than our Antipodean cousins, and so much has happened to Kylie since 2003’s Body Language that she’s barely ever been out of the spotlight. There’s been the tragedy and triumph of her battle against breast cancer, a worldwide Greatest Hits tour, gallery showings for the entire wardrobe of show costumes, the release of her first children’s book and even a role as the Magic Roundabout’s Florence – it makes you wonder how she’s found time for music.Somehow though, she has. X, her tenth studio long player, is an album packed with vitality and, as always with Kylie’s releases, oodles of fun. Some time back, the pop princess started using the Madonna model for remaining relevant - only collaborate with the cutting edge - and so it is with X.Alongside her usual suspects of Cathy Dennis, Guy Chambers and Richard Stannard, there’s also production duties for Scottish knob-twiddler Calvin Harris and supercool duo Freemasons, though sadly White Diamond, the Scissor Sisters collaboration that debuted on the Showgirl tour, hasn’t made it as far as this album. What has instead is a fine selection of pop gems. The current trend for electro is one that was always going to suit Kylie and it’s one that she’s used right through X - whether it’s on the slinky "Like A Drug", robotic toe-tapper "Speakerphone", "Nu-di-ty’s" staccato or the disco fun of "Stars" - to great effect.Thankfully, it’s not all beats, treats and squeaks. Kylie has never been a one-trick pony and the cabaret big band fun of lead single "2 Hearts" is as wonderfully camp as anything she has ever done, though even that is topped by "The One", which follows in her fine tradition of making songs capable of both breaking your heart and shaking your rump. The biggest compliment that can be paid to X is simply that it is an album capable of gobbling up column inches regardless of the popularity of or media interest in Kylie. National treasure she may be, but she’s not about to start resting on her laurels. --Chris LongFind more music at the BBC This link will take you off in a new window See more

I enjoy this album has it is different from Body Language which had few good singles except for Red Blooded Woman and chocolate this album was done a year and a half around late 2006 due too Kylie’s Cancer diagnose it was referenced too X as it is the Roman numeral for 10 , this is Kylie’s 10th studio album first track 2 Hearts it starts with the lyrics “You make me invisible Like the Sky, You make my Day’’ ,’’ I feel so Wonderful’’ ‘’Oh Oh Oh ‘’ Don’t let Go this is a great Kylie song it has a strong dance pop and rock background a lot of different music is in the song, It has a different vibe too Slow and Even Spinning Around a great Kylie Classic song I want too give this a 10/10 Track Two Like a Drug, I do Like this song it is Sexy Sassy and has a rather Britney Toxic Vibe It has Kylie doing sexy “ Boy You Got it” got it “You got me feeling crazy about my Body” Make me feel like I can make it real” You got me hooked get me on the Floor” I just can’t get enough of listening too this on repeat , Well I will give it a 10/10 Track Three in my Arms, is a Synth pop which featured elements of retro and Dance Music , it was so successful it was in the Top Ten in Romania, Belgium France UK, Switzerland and Germany however the song experienced low success in her native Australia where it peaked only at Number 35, this was also gathering positive reviews it was described as By Prefix Magazine reviewer Bruce Scott as Fuzzed out and Synth,, heavy and writes it was full of the kind of Elaborate Charm that made Love at First Sight’’ a past hit and too high praise from Evan Sawdey from Popmatters said “ A Track that absolutely demands Your Attention “ the video has Minogue in a blue dress near a fan with long pink ribbon and yellow ribbon in her hair and a blue dress , then she is in pink retro glasses this is the third single from the Album X 10/10 Track Four Speakerphone, well what can I say this track makes me not want too like it it was a different sound too Kylie like repeated but it is far too irritating for it too be a favourite sorry it is not good not any potential too be a single no wonder it was wasn’t 5/10 Track Five Sensitzed This is a another great song off the number I love this this is a banger Firstly the lyrics sound like the a cross between Some Kind of Bliss and Did It Again great lyrics ,” Sensitized by Every Word that You say’’ Boy You got Messed up but I like it that Way’’ “ Tantalized just too good too refuse” “When I try too stop You You keep blowing my fuse’’ this has a 90’s feel too it fabulous such a amazing song a gem from the album which could have been a single 10/10 Track Six Heart Beat Rock this song was a sexy little tune “Ladies in the Spotlight Boys are checking their tights” Skirts out While their hips sway” Bumping too the hot track” People take a step back “ C’mon C’mon C’mon C’mon C’mon “Cause I can Make Your Heartbeat Rock”. I feel this tune it would have been a club hit in the summer of 2008 and 2009 it is so like 2000’s Kylie shows us she still is very much the undisputed Princess of Pop 10/10 Track Seven the One this is the fourth single not a bad song it is very much radio friendly, not highly sexual and it is very much nice the lyrics are uplifting if you feel sad so I will give it 10/10 . Do Buy this album first got it aged fifteen mistakenly gave it away I love Kylie from age 11 looking for some Noughties Memories This is definitely one of her best albums of the 2000’s next too Light Years and Fever . So glad I brought it again

attractive vocals & melodic material but lyrically lacking
First track '2 Hearts' grates a little at first but is a brave effort & almost back to her 'Impossible Princess' indie attack with breathless vocals which gets slightly gutsy. Fine track & probably 2nd best on album - underground London group Kish Mauve wrote this (8½). Next 'Like A Drug' has fairly embarrassing lyrics "I've got my radar on you" but is pleasant enough (7). 'In My Arms' is fine melodic disco pop (8). 'Speakerphone' fine (8). 'Sensitized' with a 60's Bardot/Gainsbourg track sampled (8). 'Heart Beat Rock' weak (6). 'The One' probably the best on the album with a fine melody & production plus strong vocals (9). The remaining 'No More Rain' (6), 'All I See' (7), 'Star' (8), 'Wow' (8), the embarrassing 'Nu-di-ty' (7), the gentle pretty 'Cosmic' (8), trickle out pleasantly but that is about it. A reasonable album but nothing more. There are some interesting production touches, Kylie's typical attractive vocals, quite melodic material but with some rather weak to (rather than strong shall we say) clever lyrics. This has nothing to do with for example fellow unknown Aussie Penelope Swales' political writings where guts is required but in any case it is both pleasant and certainly listenable.

Kylie's best album to date (with a bit of tweeking)!
X Kylie's X is without doubt her best album so far. It has literally been on my car's cd player for over a year now. I've had to make my own version of it though adding in some amazing B-sides (Cherry Bomb, Carried Away, Do It Again), deleting the complete mistake that is Nu-di-ty, and replacing the album version of 2 Hearts with the far superior Freemason's Dirty Hands Remix! Wow, The One and In My Arms are 3 of my favourite Kylie singles of all time. All in all X is a fantastic CD and I urge anyone who hasn't got a copy to buy one now! And buy it your mates for Christmas!!

Rippin' Up The Disco
Great album from Kylie! The lyrics throughout are lovely and this album has basically no missteps on the tracklist a few songs from the first time I listened to it stood out among others but with many listens they all have became very enjoyable. My favourites that have stuck with me include; Speakerphone, The One(amazing!!) and No More Rain. Definitely deserved it's Grammy Nomination and it definitely deserved to have won!!!!!

Kylie's weakest work
Probably Kylie's weakest work ever. Some tracks are good (the ones that were released as singles), but the majority of this Album is weak.

A fantastic return
Kylie's back where she belongs, on top, this has got some great dance tracks, the stand out ones for me, In My Arms, No More Rain, The One, Wow (which aptly sums up this album) and the more soulful Cosmic, my personal favourite. Interesting to see that Madonna's almost copied this cd cover for her recent embarrassing effort, let's hope Kylie can mature more gracefully than her.

X marks the spot
Kylie's first album after cancer ordeal really shows growth in her lyrics and overall sound. Don't get me wrong, she's still making dance pop, but it's a bit more mature. Unlike her previous album, this one has slower songs, it's a bit melancholic at times. The standouts are ''The One'', ''Cosmic'' (the best track on the album), ''Heart Beat Rock'' and ''In My Arms''. The first single ''2 Hearts'' is nothing like the rest of the album and that's a good thing. Although there is some filler on this album (Sensitized, All I See, No More Rain), the album's very good and a great addition to any pop music lover's collection.
