For an adjunct with a day job, this text is profound. It provides many teaching theories in bite-sized chunks. It's all actionable. Take what you like, make it your own, and start experimenting. During semesters it helps to flip through various sections on lecturing, facilitating discussion and getting students involved as quick refreshers.

Very simple and useful. Some sections will need updates but overall great book for someone looking to teach for the first time.

This is a great book for teaching! It provides plenty of empirically-based methods of improving motivation, interest, and learning in students. I ordered this book for a teaching class I took in a graduate psychology program. I encourage anyone who is teaching to take a lok at this book!

Some topics were very informative and well written while others covered such basic stuff

The book was in excellent condition upon arrival and I have no complaints.

Lots of revisions and updates from the previous edition (13th--> 14th). Some chapters are all-rearranged and rewritten. It is a mandatory book for a college instructor. If you have any previous edition of this book, it is worth buying a new edition to update your knowledge.

Easy to read with lots of teaching tips.

In terms of content, this book is excellent. It provides many helpful suggestions on a variety of topics for success in the classroom. It is backed by current literature and is easy to apply to your own personal situation. Based purely on the content, I would rate this book a 5. I rated it a 3 , however, for two main reasons. First, there book is expensive. They talk in the content about how you choice of textbook for your class should take cost into consideration, yet this book is expensive given the size of it. Additionally, I've only had it for a month and the binding is falling apart. I take excellent care of my books (e.g. I don't send the covers back, it gets stored goat on my desk, etc) so there is no reason for the binding to be breaking apart. Pretty upsetting for a new $100 book. Overall, this is a great resource for teachers but I recommend trying to buy a second hand copy to save some money.
