He's got Village People working for him.
3 discs with a 'behind the story' feature on every episode and there are 9 of them. Plus there are other bonus features on the series and English subtitles. Episodes are about 35 minutes long which may explain the oddness of 9 episodes ---- I presume a 1 hour slot on a tv channel but wonderfully NO adverts on these discs !Something different and unexpected in a series about gangsters, enforcers, hitmen and fraudsters (OK the last one has numerous comedy variations in films and television). Humour, dry and sometimes subtle, and perfect for macho Sly and the cast of often nerdy characters who play off our antihero. They are the vital arteries, superbly played, off Sly's beating character in his first television series.I'm not a big comedy fan (my shelves are almost bare of such 'cepting Fawlty Towers, Blackadder, One Foot in the Grave, Vicar of Dibley --- I think that's it in the classic bracket) but I felt very comfortable enjoying Tulsa King. Not always laugh out loud, but I was continuously grinning, and I found myself empathizing with Mr Stallone's fish out of water discomfort. After 'Rambo: Last Blood' I felt he should hang up his Bowie but at least here he plays a 75 year old which is much more realistic. A 2nd season is in the pipeline.Superb entertainment, gripping and intense as well, with high production values. You'd expect that from Taylor Sheridan, he currently has the Midas touch with Yellowstone, 1883, 1923, Mayer Of Kingstown. I've not been disappointed thus far. Bring on season 2.
