The knurled grip just makes the difference because there's no slipping or sliding down the body as one continues to write. The look is very smooth and sexy for a pencil. It does not roll away when laid down. The quality of the entire product is phenomenal. The size of the body is perfect as I have tried quite a few other metal bodied metallic mechanical pencils before taking the leap to purchase this. My old rotring tikky pencil is still intact after 9 years of constant use but because the grip is melting I decided on this models grip design and as mentioned before fantastic knurled grip and support area. It looks so sharp, slick and sexy that I am very happy with my purchase. As I have only got it today, I might review this review in a few years time or sooner if things go awry but don't expect to see me anytime soon if my last rotring is anything to go by. Definitely recommend this product.

**Q: Where is it made? Germany, France, China.**
A: Japan apparently, either way, i got the black version and its very good quality, been using it for about 3 months and dont have any gripes

**Q: how much bigger is the grip compared to the 600, which i find to thin? thanks**
A: I would say it's about a millimeter wider, a couple or 3mm longer and slightly smoother. The whole pencil is considerably heavier too; weighted towards the top end. It's a great pencil but I prefer the 600 for drawing. Hope this helps.

**Q: What is the weight of this pencil? Is it heavier than the other version?**
A: I am not sure what is meant by them other version’ as there are several similar types of Rotring mechanical pencil. If compared with the Rapid Pro 0.7 or 0.5, the 2mm is very slightly heavier. If compared with the Rotring 800 with a 0.7 lead, the Raid Pro 2.0 mm is a little lighter. I hope that helps. They are all wonderful pencils.

**Q: what metal or alloy is this pencil made of?**
A: I think the inner workings are made principally of brass but the outer casing seems to be of aluminium.
