I bought this to sharpen chisels, plane blades, spokeshave. This item makes it easy to do this job as you can get correct angles ,and you can lock the item in place so you can achieve this task and parallel blade sharpening. There is a company who makes one just about identical to this but it is twice the price. I recommend this product

Helps to keep a good angle for sharpening and easily adjustable. Wish they offered a blade holder along with this.
