Since then, it has been in the back of my mind for decades, calling me to watch it again, for it is one of the most beautiful, romantic and magical movies created ever!This movie is an absolute treat and delight to watch. The casting is perfect and each actor and acrtess gives a stunning and convincing performance. The sets, outdoor landscapes and costumes are straight out of a fantasy novel dream. And the songs are warm, funny, heartfelt and moving.The world is a better place with this movie in it. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Slipper and the Rose is a little gem of a film *by A***R on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 on 6 August 2016* I really loved this little gem of a film version of the story of Cinderella. The Slipper and the Rose (directed in the UK in 1976 by Bryan Forbes and produced by Stuart Lyons) has lots of things in it, from songs, dance, humor, drama and also wonderful costumes and sceneries.Actress Gemma Craven, a real life Cinderella due to how she got the role (check the Special Feature, as to explain why) is a perfect portrayal. Actor Richard Chamberlain provides both excellent acting and singing abilities, as the dashing Prince Edward. He has a lot of screen time, about the same as Gemma.(Spoiler Alert!) Showing so much story structure of his decision of whom to marry, against his father's choice. The Prince wants marriage for 'Love', whereas his father wants his son to marry in order to avoid War by joining alliance and build a bigger Kingdom. This creates a fair balance of the story between both the prince's and Cinderella's . Also naturally of their time together.There are many fantastic supporting actors, many that are familiar. From Kenneth More, Annette Crosbie and Margaret Lockwood, just to name a few. The songs (by Richard M. Sherman) ranges from good old fashion musical numbers to some wonderful sweet heartfelt songs (particularly Gemma's 'Tell Him')The DVD has on its Menu, Play movie and Scene Selections. Also Special Features, which shows the early production of the film. What are to be seen as well, are the creation of the lavish sets and the casting choice for the Cinderella character. Narrated by Sir David Frost (Executive Producer).I have enjoyed The Slipper and the Rose very much and I would highly recommend it to anyone who likes good old fashion romantic musicals. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Simply Delightful *by M***L on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 on 20 March 2022* A musical version of the story of Cinderella. A wonderful ensemble cast. Worth a watch for the superb Michael Hordern alone.
