COUGH RELIEF drops helps my three chihuahuaโs tracheal collapse and throat prolapse coughing issues.
I have three chihuahuas with chronic coughing, gagging and/or wheezing issues. Two have progressive collapsing trachea problems and the other has a prolapse in her upper esophagus/palate area. Two of my dogโs conditions were confirmed by X-rays. All three of their medical issues are genetically related and, when they have fits, it causes my dogs great discomfort with deep coughing, gagging, and/or wheezing. While I have prescriptions on hand such as Terbutaline tablets and Hydromet cough syrup with codeine, I have been exploring different brands of herbal cough and respiratory supplement drops to give alone when my dogโs coughing, wheezing, and gagging symptoms are mild, as well as administering the supplement in conjunction with their prescription medications for extra relief, especially when their symptoms are severe and their prescription medications have not totally lessened their discomforts. For the last four weeks, I have been periodically using the COUGH RELIEF - COUGH & THROAT SOOTHER drops for my three chihuahuaโs symptoms and have found it to be a great cough suppressant for my dogs with no adverse side effects so far. Since their coughing, wheezing, and gagging symptoms can vary depending on the day, I have administered it both alone or have mixed it in with their meals, depending on whether they are exhibiting just a mild cough or are having lagging, chronic coughing fits. One ingredient in the product that is a generally safe, palatable, and highly effective cough suppressant is licorice. Having done some personal independent research on the internet, I have discovered that: 1. Licorice root is a natural means that can suppress inflammation within the body without causing damage to the immune system itself and can also help with anti-inflammatory needs in multiple areas. 2. It is particularly useful in addressing coughing, stomach, liver, skin, and immune system disorders and illnesses. 3. Licorice is also a natural means by which to suppress inflammation within the body without causing damage to the immune system itself. 4. However, if your dog or cat has any pre-existing conditions like pregnancy, lactation, high blood pressure, heart conditions, or kidney disorders, licorice root should generally not be given to your pet unless approved by your veterinarian. Because of the licorice in the COUGH RELIEF product, and it being a supplement that is useful for the temporary and periodic relief of coughing, I checked with the manufacturer to clear up some questions that I had, such as what is the recommended and safest long-term dosing regimen. They replied back that โthe product is for periodic reliefโ and โthat you can do a two-week course, every month.โ Thatโs some useful information that I feel should be added to the bottleโs instructions in the future. I also asked the manufacturer to clarify what a dropper serving size meant since when the dropper top is squeezed, it only half-fills up. They replied back that โYou should serve the full dropper. If it fills only half way, you need to serve 2 half filled droppers for 1 dropper serving size. 1 dropper is 1 ml.โ Doing some additional independent internet research of my own on some of the other ingredients in the COUGH RELIEF drops, I found the following: 1. Marshmallow root is amazing for easing respiratory problems in dogs. It has antitussive and analgesic properties that help prevent coughing and relieve pain. It soothes the respiratory tract and reduces inflammation because of its mucilage. Itโs antimicrobial, and can help loosen mucus. If your dog has a dry, raspy cough, bronchitis, angina, a sore throat, kennel cough, or asthma, marshmallow root can help. 2. Elecampane is great herb for dogs and cats. It has expectorant, anti-tussive, anti-microbial and demulcent properties. 3. Angelica has been shown to be a great herbal treatment for allergies, specifically dog allergies. Basically, the herb also helps animals better fight off infections. 4. Echinacea might be helpful for a weakened immune system to help fight off an upper-respiratory infection or after the onset. It is known, however, that echinacea should not be given to dogs with diabetes or other conditions that cause the immune system to be overly active. That said, and while I am no professional expert and I have not tried this product on any cats, I will continue to use this great COUGH RELIEF product for the periodic and temporary symptomatic relief of my three chihuahuaโs chronic coughing, gagging, and wheezing issues. And, while I have not personally used this product for kennel cough, I would image that the drops would be a very useful supplement to help relieve coughing symptoms. Finally, I encourage pet owners to always do their own independent research on any product that they administer to their animals and to check with their animalโs vet for any contraindications.

Definitely works!!!
The effectiveness of this has been great for my dog with Cushingโs disease. She was drinking gallons in gallons of water and now she is drinking like a normal dog again it hasnโt affected her appetite because sheโs always wanting to eat, but thatโs just her I buy this continuously for her.

effectiveness & value
I did see improvment in her symptoms but you must increase dosage by weight so just make sure you check before thinking you are buying a 1 month supply. It is kinda expensive factoring that in

Effective
My dog has Cushing's disease. I put this over her food in the morning and evening and notice less panting and she doesn't have accidents in the house. Appears to be more effective than the medication the doctor prescribed, that medication was 64.00 per month for 30 pills.

contains licorice
Overall is a good choice, but it contains licorice, which can actually increase cortisol levels and may not be ideal for Cushing's disease.

may cause death?
Hello, i want to start off by saying this product caused the death of my little boo boo Molly. She died August 4, 2024 7 am. She had suspected cushings disease per Vet about 6 months ago. The last month or so ive been giving her milk thistle drops and "cushex drops". I didnt really notice a difference. So i read briefly about ashwaganda and how it has research to suggest it helps to lower cortisol, which cushings is over production of cortisol. So, i decided to order a bottle friday august 2. It arrived saturday. I gave her the recommended drop for a 10-25lb dog at roughly 10pm saturday night. Sunday morning she came in to my room just sitting and staring. I laid next to her and tried rubbing her back and chest and she was just acting weird. Her heart was thumping hard in her chest. She was not panting mouth closed and just sitting and staring. She did not want to lay down. I had to go to work at 6 am. I got a call from my brother at 8 that she layed on her side and tongue came out dangling and blood started to come from her mouth. She died. She was 14, she did develop the typical pot belly about 6 months ago from cushings, but she was literally fairly healthy, other than the increased thirst and food consumption. She had regular bowel movements and obviously increased urination from increased thirst. So, she was dealing with cushings in no distress. I feel so sad that i might have caused her death. I think she might have been hypersensitive to the ashwaganda and had a major heart arrhythmia the rupture of something inside her chest. Im not blaming this product, but it just ironic. Losing my beloved molly after 14 years is just heart breaking. Just use your best judgement on these products and your dogs symptoms. Thanks

Totally worth it! Lab results have improved.
I honestly say that since we started adding these drops to our Yorkshire Terriers food, his lab results have improved. We subscribed to have it auto shipped to us and have no regrets. It is not smelly or messy. It does not cause him any issues with eating his food (unlike other probiotic powders we tried).
