I became rather obsessed in finding an alternative to Rocky Balboa’s handball (the one he can be seen bouncing and playing with through the films, to aid his concentration). The one used in the film is the long-discontinued Official Seamless 555, an American handball ball of around 50mm diameter. It’s been a far harder task than I ever imagined, but at approx 55mm these racquetball balls are the closest I could find. They’re not the best of bouncers, but I guess that’s the nature of the sport for which they’re intended. Regardless, I now have my very own ‘Rocky ball’ and I’ve not stopped tossing it around since I opened it.
