Ellie-Bo Large Black Sherpa Fleece Mat for 36-inch Dog Cage

Cheap
20 minutes after putting in the dogs crates I came downstairs to this. Was hoping it would last a bit longer than that. Guess you get what you pay for. Think the label on the front is a bad idea as my dogs wanted it off! I have 2 nearly 6 month old beagles.

Thin and not great, be careful when washing
This fleece is a perfect fit for our 42" cage so full marks there. However, it is pretty thin and doesn't offer the dog much padding when she lies down. We still put her blankets in there as well for her. I would say it's more of a liner than a bed.Our GSD enjoys pulling things out and carrying them around and she has done it with this bed. It seems strong enough to cope and she has had a bit of a chew on it without pulling it apart. Our main gripe is with the washing and drying - it has little plastic nobbly bits on the mat underneath, presumably to make it less prone to slipping. When we put the bed in the washing machine and then the tumble dryer (as the Answered Questions seemed to indicate you could do that - there is no care label on the product), it seemed to shed hundreds of the little blighters all over the machines and then all over the floor when pulling them out again. We washed on 30 degrees as the listing indicated but we were picking plastic bits out of the machine for about 20 minutes afterwards! We have attached some photos to highlight how many there were! This means that we will be very hesitant to wash it again and kind of defeats the point of something like this.Overall it's useful for a crate liner but not a standalone bed and we cannot recommend it after the washing and drying turned out so badly.

Would I buy it again? Nope.
I always ask myself, “Would I buy this product again?” when I write a review. The answer in this case is a VERY firm “No”. To be honest, I probably wouldn’t take it if it was offered to me for free….While it’s a reasonable bed mat for a dog, the little black bobbles on the bottom that are supposed to stop the mat from sliding around:A) don’t stop the mat from sliding (so they are pointless)AndB) come off by the hundreds in the wash, so that when you pull the mat out of the washing machine, your floor is littered with them. Good business for vacuum cleaners, though, as I end up hoovering my floor after every wash.Pity the bobbles appear to be plastic rather than rubber; they might work if they were rubber.Good idea, poor execution.

Not Labrador proof, or safe for that matter....
....in a matter of 7 weeks since first use, our fox red lab has chewed through the backing of the Sherpa fleece the night before last (of which the little black grippy bits have come off from day one) exposing the thankfully somewhat limited fleecy interior, happily meaning that there was less for him to eat.Although this was reasonably priced, which influenced the purchase, I'm surprised that it's not fit enough for purpose to outlast one chewing session. It's completely kiboshed now so it's in the bin & thankfully Jax seems to have excreted it within his nice puppy parcels..... Which brings me back to the Sherpa fleece, not that the brown colour influences the comparison, but you're welcome to draw your own conclusion! 🥺

Dangerously poor quality - DO NOT BUY
The stitching on this product has failed in less than a week. If we had gone to bed earlier our puppy could have died from eating the filing that was falling out.Do not buy this poor quality product

Underneath leaves black bobbles everywhere and too small for large crate
I bought the same brand large crate which this is supposedly the right size for. There was a lot of space around the mat so it really needs a larger mat for the Large crate (36"). Also, it make a mess wherever it lays because the underneath falls apart leaving black bits everywhere. I used it as a general mat as it was too small for the crate but I threw it away due to the mess it left.

I would by again.
My french bulldog puppy absolutely loves this. He's now outgrown it so his backlegs and bum often hang off the edge when he sits on it but it is a firm favourite for him. I originally bought it for his crate whilst we crate trained him as it was the perfect size and wasn't too warm as he was a 'Spring baby'. However it does not get 5* as it attracts fluff and crumbs like you would not believe! Even after brushing, shaking and washing, the fabric holds onto dust. That said it is a nice little mat, it also has non slip dots underneath which is great as we have wooden floors. I have thought about buying a larger version as he's grown but part of me thinks that he would still favour his small, original!

Lovely warm mat - but very weak seams so not at all dogproof
We bought this to have in lounge for our Spaniel puppy to lie on, he has only been in lounge supervised in the evenings for less than 2 weeks and stuffing is already showing, the seams are very weak so slightest pull the seam round edge just unzipped tearing the black base fabric far too easily.Shame as the look/feel of this mat is lovely, might be suitable for an older dog which won't ever try to nibble edges, but did expect it to be a bit more robust.
