Appreciate the English translations, vocabulary review, and comprehension questions (with answers). Further, there are free MP3 files available for download. The MP3s are in clear, slow French. Quite the bargain!

I moved to France knowing no French. Dylane’s books and videos have been my lifeline. This latest book is no exception. The stories relate to real life, so they are useful in everyday life. The glossary includes the genders. This is incredibly important, because proper sentence construction depends on knowing genders. I have used workbooks that don’t include this key information and you spend half your time looking up words for their genders. I don’t need to know how to look up a word, I need to know the gender!! Dylane understands what is important. The questions are helpful and it is so convenient to have the questions and answers right after the reading, no flipping to the back of the book and again to the front. Time-saving, once again. Finally, the audio is done in Dylane’s typical style. Her slowly and clearly executed sentences make it easy to understand and practice repeating. This ticks all the boxes: reading, listening, speaking, and writing. It is an incredibly good value and I highly recommend it for anyone who has a basic level (end of A1) French.

The author suggests reading one story a day. I read each story 3 or 4 times "à haute voix", then complete the exercises for that story which are very simple but useful for ensuring comprehension. I find it effective to then re-read the previous 3 stories out loud to work on my oral fluidity. Overall, I highly recommend "French Short Stories" to anyone looking to improve their French language skills. The stories are well-written, engaging, and offer a glimpse into French culture. Dylane Moreau has done an excellent job creating a collection that is both entertaining and educational, making it a must-have for anyone learning the French language.

I love this book for French learning. The audio download is helpful because the speed is slower. As a beginner, that is so key to understanding what is being said.

Great book, easy to read and level appropriate stories, For short stories this is much better than books by Olly Richards which had many errors. Beginner books should never have any error.

I'm an absolute beginner and began my French journey back in March 2025. In that time I managed to cover the content from the book. While I can't quite quantify how the book helped me improve, I can say I could cover 60-65% of the content without using a dictionary. If anything one can learn grammar without having to study grammar and your vocabulary will expand simply by reading these new words in context.

Great read, like the stories.

I bought this book couple of days ago and today I had chance to read the first story. Honestly, even after just reading the first story, I can say it strengthened my sentence structure, added new words to my vocabulary, and made me imagine that I am a part of this story. Amazing book to read! It can definitely help you with the language learning if you have elementary to intermediate level in French. I am preparing for TCF Canada and on my slow days, this is my go-to book from now onwards.
