Attractive, and extremely helpful
For those reading reviews and fretting over the โdotsโ, don't be. Used correctly (off to the side while you're paying attention to something else), you'll barely notice the individual LEDs, and they have no negative effect on the effectiveness of this as a light source. And so far, every LED based SAD lamp I've seen has them, so it's obviously not an issue. It's not a distraction if you're not looking straight at it, and you shouldn't be anyway. This is the third light therapy lamp I've owned, and by far it's my favorite. My previous two were smaller and travel friendly, and they were effective enough to be noticeable. This year though, I'm battling not only seasonal light issues and chronic depression, but grief on top of both of those, and the little travel light wasn't having a noticeable effect. Reading up on some studies, I found that this is a case where โsize mattersโโthe most effective lamps of this sort are the larger ones. Because I use mine in the living room, I wanted something that looked attractive and not at all like a light therapy box. Circadian Optics Lattis model was my first choice, but after reading about size, I opted for the less fancy but bigger Lampu instead. And I have zero regrets. The Lampu model has three light levels, and is so bright I had to start off at medium for a few sessions and keep them short even though I had been using another lamp for three weeks. Nowadays, I can comfortably sit with it for an hour at a time on the highest level. The light angle is perfect for sitting and reading or writing while you soak in the raysโI'm writing this review while sitting with it, three months after purchase. The on/off function that barely needs to be brushed against took some getting used to, but it's actually very easy to use now. I do wish it had a built in timer, but that's a small complaint for a device that has proven to be very effective against my seasonal issues. If your only problem is seasonal depression, spending enough time with this should wipe it out. If like me, you have other depressive disorders, this should at least take the added seasonal component away so you're not dealing with compounded effects. (Either way, do get your vitamin D levels tested. Most people in the Northern Hemisphere are deficient to some extent, and that will contribute to many forms of depression.) It's lightweight, but very stable, so it's easily moved. And it's attractive enough that recent houseguests didn't recognize it for what it was until I went to use it. Best of all, it's an effective tool against seasonal depression. Easily in my top five things I've bought this year, and well worth the money.

An outstanding product. Easy to use and reliable.
I purchased this Circadian Optics light after buying (and then returning!) two lights by another leading manufacturer. Both of those lights had faulty power buttons right out of the box, so I had to send them back immediately without ever getting a chance to use them. Needless to say, I lost all faith in that brand and I decided to give Circadian Optics a try. I'm so glad I did, because this light is perfect for my needs. Right out of the box, it's easy to work with. I like the simple one-button design. No finger pressure is required, just a feather-light touch. Touch it once to turn the light on at its brightest setting. Touch it another two times to experience the two less-bright settings. Touch it a fourth time to turn it off completely. The unit is short and squat, so it is unlikely to get knocked over by your own hand or by your cat or dog. This is a huge selling point for me, because whenever my cat jumps up on my desk, she loves to rub her cheeks on any object that is roughly the height of her head, such as the corner of my laptop screen when I'm trying to type. If this were a taller light, she would probably push her head against it and knock it over. This model has no color-adjusting settings or automatic timer, but I really don't think such settings are necessary. This is a neutral, pure white light that I think it very pleasing. The purpose is to help wake you up and keep you alert, and it does exactly what it's supposed to do. If you really want to set a timer to help you get the proper dosage of light, use your cell phone, your computer, your kitchen timer, or whatever else you have on hand. This light has only one drawback I can think of, but it's extremely minor. The base of the lamp is very smooth, so the unit tends to slide or skid when you brush against it with your hand. I remedied this problem right away by attaching three small self-adhesive bumpers made by 3M. Some people call those things rubber feet or rubber bumpers. You can buy them on Amazon or even at the supermarket if you look in the hardware section. Just get the kind that are very small and flat. All in all, I love this light and I am so pleased by how functional it is. It's a great value for the money too.

Not 10,000 lux per testing but still a good choice
Do your research. Almost none of these inexpensive lights are 10,000 lux. Including the ones by other well known companies. Nerdy YouTube researchers prove this. They are most often in the 3-5k range, which is morning sunlight not high noon sunlight. So knowing that i bought 2. And i am happy with the brightness and light. I do not like the angle because the light should be shining DOWN not up. The easy remedy is place it higher than eyes and tilt, using tape off you need to. I like the small footprint and the quality of the build. I did drop it twice and nothing shattered or cracked or broke. It has no timer so you can use it a long time as ambient lighting, but be cautious of overheating after a few hours. The light color is very mid spectrum on the blue side. I am very happy i bought 2. But i can not give it 5 stars because it is not 10,000 lux per researchers. But do i want high noon light at 7am? No I do not. I am happy with my purchase.

This is the real light therapy deal, it really works!
First off, I was a total skeptic of this therapy option. I'm a SAD sufferer and really do have a hard time mid-winter due to the ongoing lack of sun and Vitamin D synthesis, so purchasing this light was kind of a last ditch effort on getting through winter in a better mental state. And... it works! OK, a little about the light itself. While the light output is similar in every way to a video LED panel (I tested the output and the kelvin temperature and it dead on matches my video LED panels), this is a really well built unit that feels sturdy. It's got a touch-pad style On button with three different settings, although I only use it at its highest. Your eyes will adjust to the brightness and then you'll see the LED lights inside the white surface, but fear not, the light output is still doing what it is advertised to do, your eyes just adjusted to the blinding light! It's got a removable power cable that I wish was a foot longer, but that's about as negative a point as I can think to make. Otherwise, this is a solidly built lamp and it even looks stylish on my desk at work. After a couple weeks of using the lamp about an hour a day, it's not that I noticed I was happier, I just noticed I wasn't headed to the dark place per my usual winter strategy; I just felt like myself, and that's exactly what I was hoping for with light therapy. I am convinced this lamp is making winter more positive for me, so it was a great investment. In summary, the lamp is a well built product, the light output is strong enough to emulate sunlight (the screen capture is from a photographic light meter, and that setting is 4.5x stronger than taking a properly exposed photo in noonday sun, so that's a lot of light). Most importantly, the product really does work for me as advertised.

Great for preventing โwinter bluesโ
I donโt have full blown seasonal affective disorder, but I live in the northeast in NH, where I often leave for work and come home in the dark in winter. There are no windows in my office, so I get very little exposure to natural light. 2 years ago it really started affecting me - I wanted to carb load all the time (even when not hungry), sleep at least 10 hours/day, and didnโt have as much energy. Last year I used this light with great success starting in October through early February. Bright, easy to use, affordable, works really well. This year I started in Oct and will continue through March, since I had a bit of a slide late last winter. Helpful tips: 1. Start mid fall (October in northern hemisphere) with 5-10 minutes per day 2. Gradually increase to up to 1 hour per day 3. Use in the morning, as early as you can (I use it 2 hours after I wake up, at work since I donโt have time at home). 4. Taper off in spring 5. Donโt bother using in the afternoon unless thatโs the only time you can use it 6. Try to limit your sun/light exposure mid summer with sunglasses, hat etc so the difference in light is not so great. Good luck!

This really works. It has changed my life.
I have struggled with insomnia for years. Even if I take sleep meds Iโm still up all night and getting 4-5 hours of sleep tops. I live in Florida so never heard about a SAD light but my functional wellness coach told me about this. She gave me a few simple things to do that helped my insomnia. 1. Stay off devices an hour before bed. 2. Get my circadian rhythm in order by doing two things. First go outside when I wake up every morning for 15-20 minutes with no devices and sit in the daylight. Then after breakfast use my SAD light at my desk for about 30 minutes. Since doing this routine Iโm sleeping 7-8 hours a night. Stopping devices in bed is huge but I believe this SAD light is also having a big Impact. I would feel tired a lot during the day but when I use my SAD I feel more awake and less sluggish during the work day. I also never felt so ZEN in my life. Iโm overall in a better mood. I donโt get frustrated as easily during the work day, and I feel like I shrug things off much easier than before. Now I see why they call these things Happy Lights. I researched a lot of data and reports from experts who tested many lamps and I settled on this one based on the positive data, the size and the sleek appearance for my desk. I can only speak for my experience but Iโve been extremely happy. Best money I ever spent!

Poorly engineered - zero therapeutic value
Scammed, the premise of product is faulty: bright light therapy is not just about ~10k lux, ambience is equally (if not more) important. If you have to buy 3 of these just to avoid burning your eyes (yes, despite keeping it on your left/right side in line with ear it will cause unevenly bright spot and cause hours long ill-effects till your eye become like balanced out again (not sure of the medical term). So yeah the promise of bright light therapy holds, but this product does not deliver it. Also, given S. Tank funding - I wonder how many reviews are genuine - since marketing is better than product.

Nice!
Lamp came in the mail quite quickly. Loved that shipping was free. The lamp is gorgeous, I didn't want an ugly thing on my desk, because I know I would use something I liked to to look at, and I would look forward to using it, as vain as that sounds. I love the tap button rather than pressing in a button, (no dirty grease build up over time in a button) you simply tap and there are dimmer options. It's a rainy, cloudy day today and I'm loving the bright lamp. I've never used a sad lamp before, so we'll see how well this works over the winter - maybe I'll write back 6 months from now and update. So far, I quite like it. I also appreciated the small booklet of information that came with it, though it didn't mention 10,000 lumens (lumins?) in there, so I hope I have sufficient light for therapeutic purposes. I know the research says you have to have it a foot or so from your face to be effective. So far, so good! I like it.

very happy
the lamp is exactly what i would expect. both my family dr and my psychiatrist recommended a light therapy lamp for my depression but i had a hard time finding one that looked like it would fit in with my home, and if i don't keep it out and in plain sight i will never use it everyday. so i was very happy to find this lamp that is small yet stylish and extremely affordable. the quality is exactly what i would expect from this price and the lamp is very bright. i only received it a week ago so we will see if it helps my mood or not but i would recommend this particular lamp for style, function, and price!
