When I purchased this item I thought, 'at this price, what do I have to lose?' I am the relative/friend who is the go to person for deviled eggs. Needless to say, I have peeled the shells from thousands of hard boiled eggs over the years with an approximate 40% success in yielding perfectly peeled eggs for a beautiful presentationUsing this egg piercer, my success rate has been 100% in yielding perfectly peeled hard boiled eggs. Just follow the directions by gently cupping the egg in your hand & lightly pressing it into the tiny pin piercing the larger more rounded end of the raw egg before placing in the pot for boiling. Once boiled to your preferred doneness, drain the water and run the eggs under cold water & draining a few times then placing ice in the cold water with the eggs. After about 20 - 30 minutes, peel the shells from the eggs by gently banging the egg on all sides and rolling the egg between your hands. You'll see the shell separate from the egg allowing for easy peeling. I highly recommend this product.

I was truly skeptical, after peeling a hundred eggs for Thanksgiving, I was looking for something that made the process far less painful. I eventually came across this little thing and thought that it’s unlikely to work, but I was completely wrong.It pierces the shell before you boil the egg so then I thought well it’s going to leak egg out into the water , also wrong. Then as we went to take the shell off all off the shells slid off so effortlessly. This little thing was so worth $8 I’m buying them for our family for Christmas next year bc we never really know what to get anyone and this is a useful little gadget.

I was disappointed, the pin in the middle pulled out of the device after a few uses.

I regret to say this is not a good egg piercer. Have used this for a few months now and I just threw it out. Point is too dull, cracks eggs regularly. I estimate it cracks 1 of every 4-6 eggs. Nice design and would probably be fine if the point was properly sharpened. Better luck next time.

I try all the tricks to help peel an egg cleanly. Boil as normal, cool in ice bath; now included, egg piercing before the boil. I'm still trying to understand the mechanics of this. My first eggs had trouble piercing at an angle; now I make sure that punching down after unlocking the device goes straight up with the needle in the middle. I think to fully get the benefit you need to let the eggs fully cool in the fridge, and then peeling can commence. I'm not 100% perfect still, but I can say that it does seem to help. I'll keep trying to get it repeatable. I would say piercing is easy enough, though, with the device.
