The front and back covers of the purple faux leather Bible feature a collection of Japanese Maple leaves accented by a series of dots. Lilac topstitching along the edges of the Bible adds strength and durability to a beautiful design. The title HOLY BIBLE KING JAMES VERSION appears printed in lilac on the front cover. The spine features the abbreviated and full version references, as well as the title. Silver, gilt-edged pages and a coordinating purple satin ribbon marker add to the charm of this compact Bible. The flexible cover and the lay-flat binding allow the Bible to open flat without damaging the spine. Very nice for price.
Very nice bible. Good size to carry with me. Nice ribbon to mark my place, good quality zipper to close and secure the pages and an additional few inserts.

I love this Bible - despite many pages being stuck together!
I bought this Bible because I had been going to a church conference and recording the sermons on my phone, but my phone also held my Bible. Thus, either I had to mess with my recordings by using my phone while also recording with it, or I could only look on with my dad, who I was going to the service with. For the most part, I was just looking on with him, but sometimes it was inconvenient, so I wanted a Bible for myself. I do have one or more, but they are packed away and I wanted one I could easily bring with me and stash in my purse, for an inexpensive cost. When I found this Bible, it was at the right size, right price, it was the KJV, and even adorable looking - I just couldn't resist! When I first opened it, I definitely got a huge whiff of the chemical-y smell that some other reviewers have mentioned. I'm not very sensitive to smells, but this one did hit me pretty strong. After a couple days of sitting it out in the open and letting it "air out" for a bit, the smell is greatly diminished, to the point that you have to really try to smell it and even then, it isn't overwhelming. This Bible is roughly the size of my hand (see pictures). It fits into my purse nicely and isn't too heavy. The text is small, but it's not illegible. My dad is 71 with macular degeneration and he could read it (he doesn't use glasses). My mom has diabetes and uses reading glasses and she couldn't. I don't use glasses myself. I took a couple pictures of the Bible text alongside some magazine text, just for text-size comparison purposes. Overall, this is a standard KJV Bible. The text is in 2 columns, but they include the bold, large headers so that you know which section you're coming up to. Note, there are NO footnotes in this Bible. I'm not sure if that is a KJV feature or just a product of this Bible being so small, but I don't consider it a positive or a negative. Please also be advised that the words of Christ are NOT in red. They are in black text, just like everything else. It'd be nice to have the words in red, but I don't consider it necessary. In exchange for footnotes, maps, and concordances, this Bible has a reading plan laid out for you, as well as a verse reference guide that lists verses by topic. "Employment", "Perseverance", etc. Verses pertaining to that topic are mentioned. This Bible also does not have "self-pronouncing text", but honestly, I consider that a plus. I've only owned this Bible a short time so I can't say if it will fall apart on me in the next couple days, but it feels well made. The fake leather feels like real leather and is soft and pliable. It even has a lay-flat spine. It doesn't technically "lay flat" for me yet, but that seems more because of the pages and less because of the fake leather material. OK, now here's my one real complaint about this Bible. I love it, but when I first bought it I discovered that the pages stuck together. I believe they paint the shiny, reflective, metallic paint on the pages while the Bible is smooshed closed and then it dries like that, and then they probably fan it. The result is that the pages are loose enough to fan it open like any standard book, but literally EVERY OTHER PAGE was stuck to the next one. If a page 100 turned from page 101 easily, it meant it was stuck to page 99. I'm not even exaggerating. The first day I received this, I went through, page by page, and separated each of the stuck-together pages. The whole process didn't take me that long, but it's not something you expect to have to do! Overall, I would highly recommend this Bible. It's compact, easy enough to read, simple, and very cute. Even has a ribbon marker - how many inexpensive Bibles can say that?

Beautiful little Bible for the dirt-cheap price, simple, light and portable as well
For only $12, this is a very nice little Bible. Feels solid but flexible and looks quite elegant. The Bible is not quite "pocket-sized", but it's smaller than standard-size Bibles, lightweight and easy to carry. "Handy" is an accurate description I suppose since it is about the length of my hand. I have an actual pocket size KJV Bible that could squeeze into my jeans pocket, but the text is so small that I need to strain my eyes to read it in my 20s with good eyesight. This mini in-between-size version is for me readable but text is still on the small size, so if you have difficulties reading small print it may not be the best choice. As for the translation, of course the King James Version translation of the Bible needs no introduction to anyone in the English-speaking world, the Authorized Version of the Bible in England translated under King James I in 1611 and largely unchanged in content to the present day, complete with "thees" and "thous". For some the language may be archaic and difficult to understand, maybe not the best choice for studying the Bible itself lest you need to waste time deciphering the English first, but it is also one of the most poetic and beautiful renderings of the Bible in the English language. Although I am a Catholic, like nearly every native Anglophone many of the most familiar Bible verses I've grown up to immediately recognize are from the KJV. This edition is fairly barebones, presumably to keep it small and cheap, there are no footnotes nor cross-references. The back of the book does have a 12-page "Verse Finder" listing a few verses each under subjects like "Courage", "Employment", "Depressed", "Stressed" and a 4 page "One-Year Reading Plan" with a suggested schedule and checklist for reading through the entire Bible in one year. Although the original KJV did include translations of the books known as the "Apocrypha" rejected for the Biblical canon by most Protestants but accepted as the "Deuterocanonical" books by Catholics as well as Orthodox Christians, this edition does not include those books. The KJV is a Protestant translation (some sects of "KJV-only" Protestant fundamentalists even believe this translation was inspired by God as the only acceptable Bible version!), but no reason Catholics can't read it though it shouldn't be the only Bible version on the shelf. As mentioned, there are no editorializing notes or commentary in here. Some specific renderings here and there (along with the omission of the Deuterocanonical books) favor Protestant views, but if you are a faithful Catholic, it is not going to shatter your faith or anything. (As for the conservative Evangelical Protestant KJV-onlyists, well it is a tad bit of irony that the Bible version's namesake King James was a lifelong avid homosexual constantly chasing after and kissing handsome young lads at his court earning him the private nickname "Queen James" among other courtiers.)

I know I will enjoy this.
It works very well as my prayer Bible. Nice paper. Sturdy. It should hold up well as I like to put it in my purse and take it on the run. I know there are so many digital Bible resources but it is comforting to actually be able to hold The Word in my hands. Iโll be updating my review when I have finished adding tabs to mark the prayer scriptures.

Beautiful
Didn't pay extra for fast delivery and expected it to take about 10 days in the normal post, so was surprised to see it dispatched the day after ordering, and even more surprised (and happy) when it arrived just two days later. The book is absolutely beautiful! Gorgeous. Bought this for myself, but I will order them as gifts in future, as I can't think of a more lovely gift for someone new to bible study. Time will tell how the quality stands up, but on first inspection, happy so far.
