A solid build keyboard that feels great to type with, is bright when lit up on full and wired, so will never need to be recharged. It is comparable to my favourite keyboard of all time, the Logitech MX Keys Mini Minimalist Wireless Illuminated Keyboard but at a 3rd of the price. Even the body and build of the keyboard looks and feels almost identical. A very good value at $45.

The Perixx Periboard-416 is a compact, lightweight keyboard with hub, for Windows and Android. The keyboard is approximately 28.5cm wide by 11.5cm deep. Underneath it has 5 ‘rubber’ feet to give it grip on the surface it is used on. It has an angled profile, rising away from the user, and the largest point from top of button to underside is about 1.5 cm high. Additionally, there are 2 flip-down risers underneath at the back to raise the angle even higher. Those risers also have 2 little ‘rubber’ feet to give grip. The keyboard is lightweight but does not feel low quality. The quality appears appropriate for the design and price. There is a usb-c connection/power, plus 2 usb-a ports and 2 usb-c ports. USB standard 2.0 is used. Therefore, these ports allow the keyboard to act as a hub for other devices, such as usb storage drives, to be plugged in and accessed. This is very convenient, particularly combined with the compact size. All ports work as expected. The keyboard comes with 2 cables to connect the keyboard to other devices by either their usb-a or usb-c ports. This is not a backlit keyboard. It does have 3 LEDs at the top right to indicate: Function Key on; Caps Lock on, and Scroll Lock on. AlphaNumeric keys are White print on a Black background. These keys are slightly concave. The Fn key and the Functions it enables are indicated in Blue print. Those Function keys plus Esc and Del, all in the top row, are convex. This convexity is the same as the last row, from Ctrl to the directional arrows. The typing experience, which is always a matter of personal preference, is good for a compact keyboard. The keys have good feel. Actuation Distance is claimed to be 1.2 +- 0.2mm. Total Travel Distance is claimed to be 1.6 +- 0.2mm. The keys are quiet in action, without clicking or looseness. No sticking has been detected. All keys work correctly. Durability is unknown at present but it seems like there would be an acceptable lifespan for the cost. The manual claims 3 million Key Presses. The Weight is claimed to be 332 +- 5g. The Perixx website states that the keyboard will work with Microsoft Windows but may have limited function with Android. Some Functions will only work with Windows but others work depending on Android version and device. The keyboard works perfectly for entering numbers and text in Android, such as word processors and spreadsheets from various office suites. Overall, this is a very good keyboard for a reasonable price. It does not make extravagant claims that it cannot meet. It fulfils all the functions that it claims and provides the convenience of a built-in hub. The included cables and the ability to work with both Windows and Android make it a useful device in a lightweight, portable form factor.

This Perixx PERIBOARD-332 wired backlit USB keyboard ditches the numpad, keeping the mouse close and reducing shoulder strain—perfect for people like me who have no use for stretched-out layouts. I also require the delete key to be in the most upper right position. And I chose the wired version because my desktop computer is too far from the keyboard for a wireless keyboard to work. Despite the smaller size, it has full-sized keys, all 12 function keys, and an excellent typing feel. Unlike my old mushy rubber dome keyboard that triggered letters with the lightest touch (causing endless typos), these sculpted scissor keys require a deliberate ~2 mm press with clear and quiet tactile feedback. Result: far fewer mistakes and almost no time wasted correcting. The large keycap letters are very easy to read. The backlighting has five levels (4 brightnesses and off), which is great for dimly-lit rooms. Unlike other reviews posted here, I found all rows to be backlit well. The only minor downsides for me are (a) there’s no dedicated INSERT key, but FN+F11 works just fine, and (b) the user can’t adjust the tilt of the keyboard. Bottom line: This is the best compact keyboard I’ve used for typing accuracy, readability, and ergonomics, and I recommend it highly if you can live without a numpad.
