Cake: 200 fabulous foolproof baking recipes

I got this book delivered from Amazon a couple of days ago and I have no regrets whatsoever! It contains all the wonderful cake recipies by Rachel Allen and I simply can't wait to try them. There are simple cakes as well as more rich dessert and festive recipes which are not hard to do at all. You will find something for every occassion. The cocolate mousse cake looks so lovely and "do-able". Even before he books arrived I used the search inside option on amazon and made the chocolate crumble marble cake and it disppeared in no time after coming out of the oven. Thank you Rachel. I already own Cake and find this the perfect follow on book - the Ginger Golden Syrup Loaf is delicious and cannot wait to bake some more. The ideas in the book are simple and tasty, good for even the novice baker. Although not related to the book itself - I am disappointed to see that even before the official publication date the price was reduced from £17.50 which I paid then to £14.00 and now £12.00. I accept that one choses to buy and pay the price accordingly but this price reduction near publication date seems to be happening more and more on Amazon and I would appreciate a comment from their management with regard to this. Is it a way of avoiding the price match guarantee?

This is a great baking cookbook - it's well organised into sections; easy to follow with a good variety of recipes for all occasions. It's a huge shame that not all the recipes have photographs - I would have then given it '5 stars'.

I am a big fan of Rachel Allen and her books. This is no exception, upon first receiving this book I spent a good hour flicking through the pages and picking out all the beautiful cakes I'd like to make! Her recipes create perfect results everytime and I enjoy the conversational tone behind them. As other reviewers mention there are a good few recipes that go unillustrated, and at first I admit I found that slightly off putting but now I am just used to it with this book and barely notice if a recipe has a picture or not, her recipes are so reliable that it's not really necessary. I suppose you could always Google her name and the recipe if you really wanted to see what your cake should look like. All in all this a great book to have in your collection.

What a wonderful follow up to Bake. Both books, as per usual with Rachel Allen, are easy to follow and written with knowledge. I have made a number of the cakes including the Victoria sandwich. All were wonderful. Generally my sponges are not brilliant but this one turned out a treat. There is a vast selection of cakes to choose from and all use easy to find ingredients. If you like baking and eating cake, buy this book. I have a vast collection of baking books and this one would be in my top five along with Bake.

Great cake recipes

Found the end result of following the recipes not quite what I had expected as there are other books on the market where the results of the recipes have been a lot more like the illustrations used in the recipe book

Graphics are beautiful, recipes are easy to follow and there a great variety of them.

I love the TV shows of Rachel Allen and when I saw there is a book about one of her shows, I wanted it! It is a nice book with a lot of nice recipes. I already tried some cakes and they came out just fine. I'm very happy with this book

Cake recipes for every event and day to day baking. Clear concise instructions with beautiful photos. Every recipe I have tried so far has given me perfect results and the end product has disappeared with requests for more. Definitely reccomend this to both beginner and experienced bakers.

I am a avid follower of Rachel Allen shows ....love the recipes with detailed explanation and ideas to decorate the cakes too
