No other methodology out there for learning and mastering thrash metal guitar.
This is without question possibly the only book out there that teaches thrash metal guitar in a very well structured and written methodology. Quite frankly if thrash metal is where you want to go with the guitar, you probably won't need any other book to get a firm handle on the mechanics and theory of thrash metal guitar. This book was originally written at the time when bands like Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, Testament, Exodus, Overkill, Sepultura, Sodom, Kreator and Destruction were absolutely on fire having hammered out of the underground into the mainstream and it is reflected in the book. The book starts off with metal guitar exercises including single notes, sliding chord riffs and syncopated rhythms. However, the difficulty shifts rather quickly after that as does the speed and technical nature of the exercises and this will only surmount as you progress throughout the book, especially when you reach alternate picking and its applications. No stone is unturned in this book given that after the first set of exercises, you will be taught the theory behind thrash metal in the form of the relevant scales, chord progressions, melodic principles and even an extended section on harmony. But theory does not end there, you then enter an intense study of rhythm and time signatures. In total, there are six songs with full backing band, the first three appear at the end of each chapter but the last three in the final chapter are incredibly fast and technical twin guitar thrash metal epics and include lead guitar solos. Concerning the skill level I would state that this book is better suited for intermediate to advanced level players given that this book quickly becomes very technical as you progress. It is best used as a supplementary method for those studying Troy's critically acclaimed and more comprehensive Metal Rhythm Guitar and Lead Guitar Volumes 1 and 2. For absolute beginners, it is best to go through Metal Rhythm Guitar Volume 1 before starting this method. However this book is an essential purchase for thrash metal fans and even metal guitarists who are into bands like Judas Priest, Iced Earth and Running Wild who are renowned for demonstrating fast merciless riff assaults in heavy metal. Let The Mosh Begin!!

A great book
I just got this book, been playing, self taught for years, and this is teaching me stuff I never did before. The excercise's are great and challenging to get the speed, but it's all about practice.

Good for learning thrash.
Very useful guide though difficulty soon ramps up, decent size print and good size. Like it!
