Q: How many hangers can this carry?

Actually, we haven't used it yet, but from the size of the hanger bar, I would say 6 depending on what you hang up. If your intent is to hang a suit or two, there would be little space left. But if you just hang shirts you might get as many as 7 or 8. The bag itself, is much better than the garment bag we've been using for many years. It has a lot of compartments for socks and underwear. It has for swivel wheels that will make it much easier to navigate. I'm looking forward to taking it on its first trip in May. Even before we will use it, I am considering purchasing another one. That's how impressed I am.

Q: What size suit will this bag carry? 44R? Larger?

Look at the width of the bag to be sure, but I don't think it would be wide enough for a suit larger than 44

Q: Does this meet the requirement as a carry on bag?

As I understand it. I see larger bags carried on but I don't think they enforce the size limit. You might want to check the airlines sites. I've heard Europe has stricter size and weight restrictions. The bag appears to be well made. I've used it once and wouldn't recommend due to the wide orientation to the handle; the sides stick out and make it harder to navigate tight spaces. And I kept hitting the bag with my heels when dragging on two wheels. When the bag on all 4 spinners the bag wanted to wander causing more tension on my wrist. That was more tiring than the weight on two wheels. The handle should be oriented with the bag length which might relieve the width and hitting the heels problems. I probably can't return the bag at this point but think it is a decent garment bag.
