Good heater, even better customer service
A year and a half ago I bought two of these for my flat, to go in the master bedroom and living room. They were 2nd generation, which is to say the one before the 2019 model. As the review will make clear to the patient reader, I'll have to make a passing reference to the quality and finesse of both versions, albeit the purpose of it is to praise the customer service of Wärme in the United Kingdom. The second generation heater was somewhat form over function. As written elsewhere, the menus weren't very intuitive and the documentation provided was as minimalist as the product design. Once you'd had them affixed either by the provided wall brackets or floor stand, they were very simple to remove and move around. Over a winter a half, I found my electric bills somewhat reduced but not remarkably so. Had I reviewed it in December 2018, my score would probably have been 3.5 stars. What changed it was the breakdown of one of them in Jan 2019, the middle of a cold snap. My warranty was still valid, so I emailed Designer Heaters that the heater had suddenly stopped heating. Not knowing what to expect, I was positively surprised when Lucy promptly responded to say that she would organise a courier to collect it. As good as her word, in a couple of days it was picked up by Parcel Force and delivered to Wärme.Within a day of delivery, Lucy wrote to me that they would replaced the stricken unit with a new third generation heater, which I promise I will address before the end of this review. Naturally I was happy to accept. It was shipped on the Friday, delivered by noon on the Monday and is now working away as I write.Comparing the third generation with its predecessor, the redesign is more than cosmetic, though there is that as well. In particular it ships with a more professionally reassuring manual. It's clear that some of the more eccentric controls have been made more sensible. In operation it appears to be generally faster and more efficient, although I cannot yet vouch for actual energy savings in pounds and pence. Most of all, the wall brackets are now indeed minimalist and would be simple enough to fit even for a DIY novice (the reader may rely on my personal experience in this matter). At the price of £150 for the new model, it would merit 4 stars, perhaps a shade higher.Yet the reason I gave it five stars is the helpfulness and unassuming professionalism from Wärme. Things do go wrong or break down at inconvenient times; how they are dealt with is what matters. If you do buy this heater, do make sure you retain the instructions and packaging, but do so knowing that it is well backed up by the customer service.

Looking good, great expectations.
Arrived very quickly, but a friend who unpacked it for me insisted I'd been sent the wrong item - as the box contained a TV! Which will give an idea of the heater,'s appearance - mount it high on the wall and it could easily pass for a television. It certainly looks very good with its sleek glossy black finish. But I didn't buy it for its looks - I was more persuaded by the efficiency claimed, the 7p running cost. I'd expect the actual running cost would be dependent on circumstances - if, for example, it was used in a hallway with frequent traffic through an external door letting cold air in, then obviously it'd consume more power in having to restore room temp to whatever it had been set to maintain. Not ideal. But I bought this heater for my bedroom, which I'm confined to 24/7 through disability, and the door remains closed except when visitors call occasionally. I felt this would be an ideal environment for the Wärme heater as it has the fine-tuned thermostatic control to maintain an accurate temp without excess, together with the option to set different temperatures for different time periods, and also sufficient power to restore room temp quickly if a door or window is opened that cools the room.To date I've not been able to test it - the weather has just been too warm! This will replace an oil filled electric radiator I've used for a few years, which lacks the precise temp control, so room temp fluctuates quite a bit and stays the same 24/7 unless manually adjusted (which is hit and miss) and if I open a window occasionally to let in some fresh air it can take ages to restore the ambient temp. The Wärme offers considerably better control, more efficiency and performance than my oil rad gave me.So I'm looking forward to my Wärme heater serving me far better - and reducing my bill for electricity!Once I start using it, come the autumn, I'll update this and give an idea of actual performance and running costs - but I have great expectations! 5 stars rated!
