For those that say it's loud, it may be because you have no stones or resistance attached to the outlet at that time. If you just plug it in to test it, it is loud, but with the stones attached and regulated, the hum is much less. It does get warm to the touch over time, but I do have a small computer fan gently blowing over it. I found that if you add a hose of the appropriate diameter to fit over the intake tube and about 12" in length, the hum is considerably less. The hose acts as a muffler on the intake side. It's now quieter than the 4 outlet air pump I had with WAY more air.

I'm going to excellent air pump it but it is a big air pump so the noise is assessive however I would highly recommend this air pump because it works really good for what it's supposed to do so everybody that says it's super loud it is loud but that is what an air pump that size sounds like thank you

Running 7 sponge filters and keeps them running without a problem. It is a bit noisy, but I keep it in a closed drawer so it is quieter. Air flow is really good. Tried a different pump and nowhere near the volume and power this pumps out.

Worked well for about two weeks then the sound started to increase. After about a month there was a random rattle with the pump which became more consistent with time. Barely pushed air after 3 months.

Way to loud and gets extremely hot the durability is good and the value is good but for thr noise it’s too much I get complaints from guest and family asking what the loud noise is

This mechanical pump is efficient and well built. Resting on a sound absorbable platform if produces about 55 decibels at 10 feet (3 meters). I jury- rigged a suspension system using rubber exercise tubing slung in a plastic frame to lower the decibels to 42-47.

i see a lot of good reviews on this this is why i bought it. it Stopped working in less than 12h since i got it.

Built a homemade aeroponics system for growing plants and for rooting cuttings. It works great and produces lots of bubbles with the 6 air channels. It is in my garage so the noise does not bother me much, however you may consider this factor if it's positioned in your living area. I am assuming it could also be used for hydroponics systems

This air pump works very good for my project but I would not want this in my house as it is very noisy

I hooked this up to my smallish backyard pond (100-200 gallons) and it looked like the water was boiling. The power was great, the problem is I could hear it quite clearly from my deck ~10m away. You can turn down the airflow with the levers, but the motor power is the same, so you're still wasting power and the motor will still be super loud. So if you have a largish pool outdoor for which you need that much airflow it's great, or if you're a restaurant with a bunch of big tanks to keep aerated. But the description suggests a home aquarium, and I can't imagine using it in my house at that noise level.
