Super for anxiety with dementia patients.
Mum had dementia and this book was brilliant for her during odd times of anxiety. She loved the textiles and esp the laces to just take her mind off things Highly recommend and since she passed I have passed it on to a family friend whose dad also loves it.

Overall good for dementia patients but expensive for the quality
In general this is a nice sensory book with several different activities that can keep those with dementia occupied. The quality however I found quite poor considering the price. There is a page with apples that can Velcro onto a tree and 1 Apple has already come off the Velcro in the first use (was just glued on) also the front snap fastening does not work, it is much too cheap and does not snap closed which given my mums late stages of dementia caused her some distress and she spent most of her time just trying to close the book. The makers should consider a magnetic closure or Velcro closure for easy use. I fixed the broken part myself and replaced the snap closure with Velcro, now that my mum is able to focus on the contents of the book rather than a closure that doesn’t work it is proving to be a great little fidget book for her to play with, I just feel that considering the price the quality should be improved.

My mum loves this
My mum is 93 and has some cognitive issues. Unfortunately, she also has terrible mobility and sits in her chair most of the day with just the TV for company. Apart from the TV she spends time picking imagery bits of fluff from her clothing or rearranging the table next to her chair repeatedly. I don't live near her but visit when I can. Mum has carers but no interest in going out. Mum use to go out every day but when Covid arrived mum was terrified of catching it and she wouldn't even look out her front door. I saw this book and thought, what a brilliant idea. I thought it was a bit expensive and did hesitate to buy it in case Mum wouldn't use it. I'm so glad I did because she was over the moon and fascinated by it. Mum found some of the textures comforting. It has different activities on each page, For instance, taking pieces of shaped felt off the page and putting them back, or a felt shoe with shoelaces which she can tie up. Also some pages with textures that you can touch and feel. I'm so glad I bought it. Yes, it does seem expensive, but for me, it is worth the money. You can see why it cost that amount a lot has gone into it and it is well-made. Recommend.

Excellent content
The content is proving a big hit with the recipient, but getting to it … that popstud fastener is a challenge for any person, never mind the target users (especially if they have arthritis in their hands)

Would not recommend
This is my second review as my husband with dementia has had the book for a few months and only recently been using it. Today care home staff informed me there had been an incident where my husband had put one of the Velcro apples in his mouth and they had to try and get it out before he swallowed it. The Velcro as I previously mentioned is poor quality and doesn’t fix the apples to the tree. The Velcro backing comes away from the apples. This is a hazard that people should be aware of when giving the book to someone with dementia.

My 101-year-old mother with dementia can look at this for hours. It's a big, sturdy, felt book that sits comfortably in her lap. She can look at a single page for an hour, just touching and playing with it. It is really beautiful and thoughtfully made. Brilliant! Some tips: --The first page has five pictures of animals and a page of brown fur. The first time I gave it to her, I asked her what the name of each animal was, one-by-one. She could remember some names and not others. Then I said, what do they have in common? They have brown fur in common! She was so happy and started stroking the fur, saying how beautiful it was. --There is a page with apples in a tree. The velcro was a little strong at first, so I had to detach the apples and then put them back on more lightly. After that, she was able to play with it. I told her, make all the apples fall out of the tree! Can you put an apple in the basket? Now, make all the apples go back on the tree! Do you see the little green (velcro) leaves? Each apple has its own place! She was enchanted and kept on playing with it. --The page of gold sequins is a bit stiff in the beginning, so I took a plastic knife and turned all the sequins in one direction, then the other, to get things going for her. After that, she was able to do it with a finger. Now she can sit there just drawing on the page for hours. --Very pleased that she was able to remember how to braid! --She even sat for a long time playing with the little dog who has a ring on his collar. She was enchanted. She pushed the ring to one side and told me, "it was on the other side for a long time. Now we will keep it here. " I have to say, this is a big success. With just a few small prompts from me, she can keep herself busy for a long time. She told me, "I love this book. Thank you for this gift!"
