The bucket itself is quite sturdy. The plastic is very thick and durable. There is no flex at all. It features a wide nylon strap with a thick plastic handle in the center for easy carrying. It's much more comfortable than the standard thin plastic and metal handles you find on regular buckets. The mouth of the bucket seems too wide to accept a standard bucket lid. It seems as though any regular sized lid would just lay inside the lip and spin freely. While this may technically work for basic needs, some lids with handles built into the sides would probably have to have them broken off in order to fit, though I can't say for certain. Consequently, the official YETI lid is probably the best option, so it's a shame one isn't included from the factory, given the price of the bucket itself. As an aside, and as stated earlier in the review, this is the same bucket used by many Youtubers, including the late Hobo Shoestring. We were very sorry to hear of his passing, and enjoyed his adventures very much. If you've been trying to figure out which bucket he used, this is it. All in all, it's by far the toughest bucket I've ever seen. If you need one, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better one than this. I got the bucket as a gift and thought it was cool........until I came to realize the price was $40! After scolding the gift-giver for wasting their money on such an overpriced gimmick, I decided to see what actually makes it worth $40. Well, other than the fact that you have the option to spend even more money on "accessories" like a lid and a few other gimmicky pieces, I came to the conclusion that this is really no better than a pickle bucket I bought for $2. I guess the handle is a little bit better than normal buckets, but it is still laughable to charge $40 for it. It's truly absurd to see all these positive reviews, which clearly were posted by people who are unable to get rid of their overabundant piles of money in a rational way. If you're seriously considering buying this bucket, do yourself a favor and go to a local deli and buy 20 pickle buckets instead. Don't need 20 buckets you say......well, buy 1 pickle bucket and donate the other $38 to a local food bank or a charity. For cryin' out loud people, this is just a bucket! I hate to be so critical because they make many other fine products, but this is crazy.
