Great licorice
Just as I remember them! The licorice is soft and chewy. I wasn't able to find these previously. So glad I finally found them.

Gummy black licorice
This is a favorite from my childhood, soft, gummy, chewy black licorice.

Fresh
They were fresh and not stuck together in the box or anything.I think my aged tastebuds are catching up to me because they aren’t as black licorice flavored as I remember. Almost a fruity undertone but still good. Not as black licorice flavor to me as a twizzler or even good n plenty though. Regardless, not stopping me from eating them. lol

My Favorite Candy Growing Up
Crows were my favorite candy after malted milk balls. As we age our tastes change, but I still like having these around. My issue is they are sweeter and less licorice flavor than years earlier. It doesn’t suggest these aren’t good, contrary they are still flavorful. Don’t eat them before. Meeting or with the boss, they make your tongue black. Or if you don’t care, munch on….nice product, but I don’t think I’ll buy them again.

Best of 26 purchases: Scotty Dogs, Crows & Gustaf’s Beehive.
I like licorice and recently tried to broaden my horizons using Amazon to purchase 26 varieties of licorice: black/flavored, soft/hard, American/Aussie/New Zealand/Dutch/Finnish, salmiak/not salmiak. Two stand out: Gimbal’s Scotty Dogs & Crows (black). Both are major brands with Gimbal’s offering a red strawberry flavor as well. Crows are the black flavor from “Dots” you used to buy at the movie house, but became popular enough to spin-off.Crows is a CRAZY value @ 43 cents an ounce – many of the “gourmet” brands exceed $1 per ounce. Gimbal’s is 79 cents in comparison. If you like exploring our Scandinavian cousins prefer a salty variation – salmiak, which ranges from interesting to “no way”. Worth trying though as it is common – Heksehyl Zout works (10 oz for $8.39).The Dutch have several variations but one I like is Gustaf’s Beehive Licorice – 5 oz bag for $5.60 on Amazon. Firm texture to savor which slowly releases a pleasant “honey” accent to the traditional black licorice taste.Amazon makes international licorice exploration easy & cheap with lots of brands including: Darrell Lea, Panda, Sweet Gourmet, Katjes, Backroad Country, Kenny’s, Fruidies, Happy Bites, RJ’s, Licorice.com - plus my personal favs Crows & Scotty Dogs.
