My guinea pigs have been using this bedding for two weeks now and they are rather impressed. Lady Red’s cough has gone because unlike the previous wood shavings these ones are dust extracted. They are a good quality, larger wood shaving. The smallest shavings in the bag are the size of a normal shaving for most other brands. The shavings aren’t as tightly jammed together so are much easier to get out of the bag, unlike the previous brands which required a lot of upper body strength. They absorb well trapping the ammonia smell. Although Isambard threatened to move out if I left the cages another day. That was more due to the hay smelling damp and his passive-aggressive Clifton Suspension Bridge modelled out of guinea pig poop. However, the was one small draw back. My guinea pigs now smell like they’ve started a promising career as tobacconists. The wood shavings are kilned dried giving them distinctly smoky aroma, akin to cade. Whilst the odour may not be to everyone’s liking it means the wood shavings are a better quality than most, which are air dried leaving the wood oils in the shaving potentially risking skin irritation. The smoky scent does fade from the room after a day yet remains on my guinea pigs as a faint cologne. Ezra now thinks he’s an upper middle-class gentleman and behaves with far more sophistication. He’s taken to reading The Guardian in a waistcoat during breakfast. I think they are great value and having 5 guinea pigs I need shavings that last. I’ve barely used a fifth of the bag on a three-tier cage and a separate fourth cage that have been cleaned out twice so far. Ezra dosent like it when Lady Red flirts with other men, he gets very jealous, so Erasmus has the life of a bachelor and more human attention which he loves. Back to my point, I’m impressed with this product as are my furry tobacconists. I would highly recommend it.

I switched to using this for my guinea pigs for their cc enclosure thats in my home. One bale lasts me about 1 month. I was using fabric liners but these were unhygenic, smelt very quickly and clogged the washing machine. I remembered shavings from my horse riding days and looked up these. After using them for 5 months Im sticking to them. Add in a big pile of hay, straw under their hides and I have happy girls. All their bedding is fully compostable, less smell and the washing machine is much better too. And to top it the last bale came in a cardboard box which has it made it easier to store under the stairs. Thanks.

I've been using this for a year now for my rats, and this is the cheapest and most convenient place I've found to order from. It's dust free so safe for their respiratory systems, mine have no issues with it. The bale is huge and lasts me a good few months, so definitely good value for money. Only issue I have is some of the flakes are quite big and get stuck in the hoover occasionally, but that's no fault of the product (just a point if you're thinking of getting this to use for cages indoors).

Great for our rabbits, we put them in their litter box and it's great at soaking up the urine and minimising the smell.

Proper large flakes. Very compressed, quarter of the bale went a long way. Not dusty with a fresh wood scent. Will definitely buy again.

I first bought this about two years ago and the shavings then were soft I bought another bale recently and they are more like wood chips not really suitable for guinea pigs love it can’t return them so are using them as bark chips
