Today's small businesses require lightning-fast and ultra-secure professional network storage. Their employees must have anywhere and anytime access to files, with a convenient interface. Network storage also needs to back up all the office's computers, regardless of the operating system. Enter the LaCie 5big NAS Pro. With speed, reliability, and complete usability, it's the go-to solution for small business network storage needs. Review: Awesome, plus aesthetically pleasing. Very very very impressed - OMG... This thing is awesome! I have, over the years, amassed a rather large collection of digitized movies (my own, of course... >.> <.<), music, documents, and pictures and was running out of space or having to switch between different hard drives to access what I needed. This item solved all those issues. It comes already configured in RAID 5 format, to support hot-swapping any failed drives. It did seem to be finicky about booting initially though... I had to power it off and on a couple of times to get the front button/light to turn blue and await my commands. The LaCie Network Assistant (available download from their website) makes things a lot easier as well, and gives a very nice user interface that one can customize to their heart's content. Users, permissions, partitions, creation, password protection, etc is all available within, or you can simply mount the drive from the network to your displayed drives and treat it just like an external. User preference, of course. Comes with right at 17TB of usable space, right out of the box, but this can be tweaked slightly. Write times lag a little, but wow... the read times. It's definitely as advertized, and not having to deal with those pesky wires trailing from one's laptop = euphoria. Review: Worst product from Lacie ever - I have one of these, and about 15 of the 5Big NAS Network 2 (not Pro). This one has been down more than up. They blame it on the power supply. I have no idea why. Maybe they should make a better power supply if that's the case. They refuse to take it back and refund my money. They have sent me a refurb'd one and it's as bad if not worse than the original one I bought. I have 20TB of storage that is sitting in my studio of no use to me at all. Prior to this purchase, I would have recommended Lacie products to anyone. But not this one. Never!

LaCie 5big NAS Pro 20TB (9000365U)
It takes a little to get use to. But now it can keep all my records together in one place and be able to move files around, from computer to computer.

Stores data. Doesn't protect it. That seems like a problem.
I'm disappointed. I purchased this NAS because I wanted to protect my data. I wanted to make sure that a random event wouldn't destroy a disk and hence cause me to lose everything. For years that worked just fine. Then, one day, I walked in and the pretty blue light was an angry red. Tech support was super helpful & responsive, but we were not able to put humpty dumpty back together again despite trying recovery steps, swapping the power supply, or trying a new chassis. I will now spend thousands trying to get my data back from Seagate recovery services as advised by tech support. I had vainly hoped that I was working with a company whose business it was to help protect my data. Turns out they're just in the business of disk storage products. And unfortunately, the product doesn't work. I could have had this same experience had I avoided redundancy.

Super Easy to Install and Use, Needs Network Connection
So far so good, everyone in the office likes the new cloud. Easy to install and manage. It does need a cable to your repeater/router/etc

Insanely Fast
This NAS is insanely fast, I get read/write speeds around 200MB/s using the Simple RAID mode (RAID 5), so if a hard drive fails my data is safe. The new software update on the NAS (OS 4) has a bunch of new features and I am happy with LaCie's support as well. This NAS is also a great value compared to the others on the market. It is easy to use and setup and most importantly reliable.

Best Value & Performance
This is still one of the top performing NAS on the market, super fast data transfer and more features with the NAS OS4 and comparing it has the best price compared to other drives.
