Excellent vise, superior customer service
I am relatively new to fly tying and this vise is everything that I could ask for. I replaced a very cheap vise with it two months ago and have loved every minute of tying on it. It is compact and very smooth in operation. The jaws solidly hold hooks. I've tied down to 22 and I can't see it having any trouble holding smaller hooks. Last week I developed a little wobble at the top of the stem and the threads holding the stem to barrel stripped out when I tried tightening it. I emailed Kingfisher and asked if I could order a replacement part. They asked for my adress and immediately sent out a replacement stem and barrel assembly. Josh with customer service there is amazing.

Worth the investment
Very impressed with this kingfisher, it took just mere minutes to set up and is not big and bulky. It holds even the tiniest of hooks with very good tension and very easy to rotate. the base is just heavy enough to allow me to put ample pressure on my thread without tipping it and light enough to pack it around to fly tying events.

Good quality for the price.
A well designed, precision tool. It operates very smoothly and is easy to use. Nicely machined. I particularly like the very acute angle of the cone shaped jaws which provides room for holding materials on tiny size 20 and 22 hooks. This is my first true 360 rotation vice so I don’t have anything to compare it to. It has one flaw that potential buyers should be aware of, though. The hole in the pedestal that the post goes into is .020” larger than the post. Lots of play. The post is not 100% secure in the base. It wobbles a little and even tightening of the thumbscrew that holds the post in there doesn’t give the feeling that the vice is being held very securely. Using a set screw and Allen wrench might secure it better. I resolved the problem by making a shim out of .010 sheet aluminum and wrapping it around the base of the post and now the vise feels rock solid. It’s not a dealbreaker and if anyone finds it bothersome it can be remedied as easy as wrapping one wrap of sturdy tape around the end of the post. I also clamped the base to my tying bench, just a preference. I prefer no movement at all when tying. Other than that one issue this is a good value for the money. I tied a few flies when I got it on my bench just to get the feel of it and found it a pleasure to use. Worth the price.

Great affordable vice
Didn't think I would use a rotary vice. I was wrong! Rotary is smooth. I mostly tie from 10 to 20 size hooks, holds with no problem.

Poor quality.
It was broke when it got here. And I'm trying to get it fixed or replaced or refunded.

Best value out there.
Is this as good as a high end regal or renzetti? No. But for the money, this is the best vise I have ever used. Yes the knob to adjust the rotational tightness is not locking. Still not a huge deal. If you’re on a budget, buy this. It’s better than what you have been using and the next steps up in quality is gonna be another 150$ or more.

I like it but ........
I do like this new vise and its got true rotary action, something I wonder how I managed without. There are a couple of issues though. The first is, its a little low for me. I'm used to working higher, I resolve this issue by cutting a couple of squares of plywood for the vise to sit on. The main issue for me is the movement of the upright shaft as it sits in its locating collar, there is a lot of play here. There is a tightening screw but because the shaft is so loose in the collar it doesn't work very well. It currently has a few wraps of insulating tape wrapped round the the shaft in an attempt to take up the slack. I'm thinking of drilling and tapping 2 more holes in the collar to try and hold the shaft more securely. However, I do like the rotary action, happy days.
