It arrived right on time. Out of the box There was a spec of something stuck to the prism. Seemed odd. Tried to use it and it did not work. Suspect it was a returned item and reshipped. I sent it back and another arrived the next day. Opened it and the prism lens had a sticky bubbly film on it. You guessed it, it didn't work. This seller should be banned from Amazon.

It tends to be very difficult to read the numbers

I bought 2 refractometer, 1 for alcohol and other one for brewing, both of them have a very low accuracy on readings. In case of brewing, always the readings show low values, according that reading my beer should have around 1.5% ABV. I gave a sample to a friend that work in big brewing company and used an Anton Paar equipment and measure the ABV, the result was 3.05%. in case of alcohol refractometer i used a STD solution of ethyl alcohol at 95% and prepared a 70% solution, the refractometer show a reading around 55% (all of this after calibrate with distilled water at 20 °C as the manual say). dont buy this, is a waste of money!
