Just a longer version of the free users manual
I guess I was wanted to really dig down into the program but this seems like just a slightly longer version of the free manual that you can view online. Over half the book is on subject matter that you probably already know if you read the user manual. If you're looking for an actual how and why this is going to leave you hanging.I did learn some things in this book but like all the training materials you find out there they are geared for people who own professional or producer. If you have the Artist version there are a lot of things they talk about that you won't have access too. I'm going to keep looking for a better tool.

Beginning a journey
I'm new to software recording and setting up a software use. The cd rom is pretty helpful. I have to get use to computer language software terminology. I feel that the only way to learn it is to go ahead and read and follow directions to setting up your gear.Learn by doing. I'm a complete beginner but once I get the hang of it, I should be alright.

A great book for newbies to digital recording
Although this book is very thin(90 pages), it contains a lot of information for those who are new to digital recording and using DAW's(Digital Audio Workstations). The sections on installing the software and setting up your system are very well presented and will get you up and recording very quickly(I even had my none tech wife read the first couple of chapters and even she understood the concepts). That says a lot about the authors writing style and word choices.I highly reccomend this book to any one who has just gotten into DAW recording with Studio One 2 or even some of the other DAW's out there. There is a great deal of cross platform information that may help with other DAW programs.

too advanced for dummies
I am not learning from this book, but I think that's because I am even lower on the learning scale than this book is made for. I need a very very basic start book.

NOT WHAT I EXPECTED
you can learn more about studio one by going to the paid tutorials on the internet. Bought this for a reference book which is OK but by the time I got it I had already done the tutorials which was worth the money.

Poorly written...
While there is some useful tidbits in this book it is pitched as a beginners introduction "with no prior training". Not so. No term is defined before it is used making it nearly impossible to understand the author. Don't buy this as you'd be much better off purchasing "Power Tools for Studio One 2" by Larry the O instead. Folks might get frightened away by the title, but I assure you it is much more for the beginner than this one.

Great Entry Level Book for Studio One
Superb little book, the DVD included is great with video tutorials covering stuff like effects inserts and chaining, differing midi record modes e.t.c. Sure it doesn't go into great depth, but that is not the purpose of this - as a guide covering all the basics well this is a top rate title.

A Great Reference Guide For The Beginner
As I am new to recording with a DAW, this is a great reference book for the beginner - everything is written in easy to understand language, and is written in a logical sequence so that the reader doesn't get off track. All together a great guide for the beginner.
