Great if you don’t want to use your yard.
Works so well that we cannot also use the yard. The motion sensors are SENSITIVE, and the noise put out can only be described as a weapon. It was in the yard for literally 2 minutes before I took back out.If you don’t want animals, birds or people in your yard, works great.

Didn't scare off squirrels, BUT
The reason we got this was something was eating our birdseed at night. I put it out the first night and only one platform feeder was almost empty vs the five I have out which were all empty from the previous nights. I moved it to another location and this morning not one feeder was touched. It works best at night, of course but it does NOT work on squirrels. When we opened the front door this morning to go out and check the feeders there were 3 squirrels and 2 ran towards the flashing lights of the "animal repeller". I think it's a great device but the price seems high. However we do save money from deterring nighttime bird seed eaters since we don't have to refill them every morning. I'll have to move it every couple of days so the critters don't get use to it. It's a little tricky to set up though. I wanted both the clicking sound and the flashing at night but it doesn't seem to work in combination. Anyway, great at night but move it periodically and it doesn't deter squirrels. Maybe mine are just "special" and doesn't fear anything.

Better than chemicals
We had some skunks burrowing under our shed so I got this to coax them out and away. It didn't work but now I'm wondering if I may have needed more than one or if I should have switched the location of the apparatus. I've moved it to my small planter garden to see out it will work there.

Too sensitive
The motion sensor is bad. Even at the lowest settings, the slightest bit of wind on nearby plants seems to set it off. To the point that it is going off constantly, all day long, so there is no battery left at night when I need it the most. Even worse, on the low settings, with no wind, it won't detect me walking in front of it about 10 yards or more away. I can hear it running constantly from my porch, about 20-30 yards away which is quite annoying. When I'm working on my garden, I need to turn it off because the ultrasonic actually hurts my ears a bit, and my ears will ring for quite some time after being near it for just a short time... wouldn't be surprised if this thing causes hearing damage, even if you can't actually hear it.The controls are on the front, next to the motion sensor, so even standing behind it, you can't adjust it or turn it off/on without activating the alarm.Update: I received a postcard offering me a $25 gift card in exchange for a 5-star review. Works like a charm!
We had been having a series of feral cats roaming the neighborhood and although they are cute they tend to dig up my flower beds and leave us “presents” too. So, I bought two of these to cover the front and back of my house - wondering if they would work. So far no more cat activity, so I bought a third one to prevent them coming from the side of the house. Definitely would recommend if you are having a stray cat problem. Also, being solar, they recharge well - even on cloudy days!

Ineffective
I bought this to keep birds from pooping all over my mailbox. I’ve tried colored tape and shinny ribbons, small spikes, wind pin wheels all with little or no effect. Figured I’d try this and I mounted it right on top of the mailbox post so it would have a clear view of any bird landing on top of the mailbox. The birds were not deterred in the least. In fact they even eventually pooped all over the solar panel on top, just out of spite I think. I know the unit was working since I could see the lights flash and hear the high pitched sound when it encountered motion. While this thing may be effective for certain types of animals and other birds, it didn’t live up to expectations for me.

Where'd the squirrels go!?
First, I've only had this product for maybe 30 hours. Out of the box, it looks well made. The 'manual' is small. Maybe a folded 2" × 10" piece of paper with little more information than appears on the Amazon site. Fortunately setup is simple. I put it in my garden around noon, and it's now the next night. For 2 years, many squirrels have been digging up my garden and front yard, burying peanuts that my neighbor puts out for them daily. Since setting it up, I've only seen 1 squirrel in my yard, maybe 30 ' behind the unit. It is silent on frequency setting 3, sensitivity 2. It's hard to believe. This might be temporary but poof! Squirrels gone! There's no LED to tell if it's even working, but that does save energy and the squirrels are gone! I'll update if time tells a different story but for now ... excellent!Update: After 4 days of use, I did notice the occasional squirrel in front of the unit. I'm thinking that it might have to do with my garden being on a mound at the base of large trees. Since raising the unit and increasing the sensitivity to 3, I've seen no more squirrels. Still very happy with the product.Update @ 2+ weeks: Hard to believe but they're gone! Not 100% but at least 95%! An occasional squirrel will come in the yard and even in front of the unit, seemingly unphazed, but it's not there long. Neighbors have also commented that squirrels in the area have dropped dramatically. My daughter can 'hear' the sound, and sometimes I can as well, when I'm beside it and it is triggered, but otherwise, it's 'out of sight and mind'. When I work in the garden and trigger it, I can hear clicks coming from it, so I know it's working. My garden it recovering from squirrel damage. I'm happy! Money very well spent!
