Spray onto the glue or label residue, leave for a short while and remove the gel like residue. Works well on paper labels, as the oil-like product soakes through, but not so good on PVC labels, which need to be removed first (use to remove the glue, which is left behind). It makes the initial PVC label removal much easier though. There is a "typical?" orange like smell with this product, which evaporates after a short time. I've used it to remove label residue from solid surfaces, like glass and hard plastics, but I wouldn't recommend using it on surfaces, which allow the product to be absorbed as it may stain. If you're not sure, better test it in an inconspicuous location first, before using it. Takes care of really old labels/residue as well, but may need several applications, before all of the old glue can be removed. After spraying some of the liquid - which is a bit like WD40 with a citrus aroma - onto the labels and leaving it to soak in for a few seconds, I was then able to peel off the labels carefully with virtually no adhesive left behind. I found it useful to give additional squirts of the liquid under the label if there were any parts that didn't peel off easily.
