I'm not a very scientific beermaker, but I got a decent hop taste and bitterness with no change to a known recipe. The filter contained all the hop mess for a cleaner wort. This device has made brewing beer from grain, much easier and less messy. The filter seems to be of a good quality, sturdy and well made. The only tiny downside, which may not be a problem to most people, was that my pot lid wouldn't go down properly because of the support arm bracket. I got round this by using stainless steel automotive lock wire, to hang the filter from the pot handle.
