Great product
Great swedish weaving patterns and instructions. Learned swedish weaving years ago and I'm glad to get back into it.

Excellent crafting book for beginner or expert.
I remembered doing Swedish Weaving 25+ years ago. When I found this book, I was intrigued by the more contemporary designs. The book does not disappoint as it is evident that great care was taken in its production. The author states in the beginning that all ages can learn Swedish Weaving and after reading the book, I feel that anyone would be capable of following her directions. It is concise in the instructions and easy to read. The first section familiarizes the reader with all materials and tools that can be used in Swedish Weaving. And they are mentioned within each project description as to how to use them for the project, jogging your memory and avoiding flipping back to find the info. There are highlighted helpful hints blocks with every project and alternate ideas for design usage. The color photos are very vivid and clear. The designs that are included on the pull-out sheets are clearly printed and easy to duplicate on a copy machine, if needed. (This is also mentioned in the instructions as a way to keep track of your progress on the stitching charts as you work through a design). The only problem for me is I can't decide which project to start first!I have been crafting for over 40 years and find it rare to find such an informative, easy to follow crafting book. I recommend this to anyone whether as a beginner or someone returning to Swedish Weaving, or for fresh new ideas for an established weaver. The author's website is noted in her biography and it would be well-worth the reader's time to also visit that for more pattern choices.

I do like the book
I was trying to decide whether or not to give this 3 stars or 4. I do like the book. However, while there are a few projects that I look forward to creating there is really nothing too exciting about many of the patterns that appear here.

It’s ok
Good for beginners like me but I wish there were written instructions as well as just pictures. But there is not a lot available for this weaving

Awesome
Great book. Easy enough to teach my kids. They love making the bookmarks and place mats. My oldest is ready to attempt the runner.

Buy it quick before they run out
This book is convenient, literate, open-minded and altogether very well thought out. This technique produces lovely, practical items for the home and even garments, for relatively little time and money - what's not to like? This book is a great "only" source for a craft that has major ups and downs in popularity. Just be warned - never put huck weaving in the same washer or dryer with an unhooked bra.

Not What It Seems
I had hoped to learn Swedish weaving and that's what the title implies, but the only pattern featured with monks cloth is a large afghan. The other patterns are written for Aida cloth. Aida is stiff and difficult to work and gives an entirely different appearance than the traditional monk cloth. Yes, the same graphs can be used on different even-weave fabrics, but as a beginner I didn't want to start converting patterns until I'd learned the stitches. Even worse, the Aida cloth patterns call for an Aida 14, which is not the easiest for those of us of a certain age. I don't recommend this book unless all you're looking for is the graphs for the stitches.

Great projects, good directions!
There are actually several designs/projects that I really like in this booklet. At first the directions were a little confusing, but I was making the transition from Hardanger embroidery where you sew over the squares and through the holes to Huck were you sew between the threads of the squares. Once I got my head through the difference, it was great!

This book has a variety of projects with good photos, but the patterns are on a pull out sheet. As such this is good for a personal library, but not so much for a guild library where the patterns might never return so the book is useless to other members.

so I was a bit disappointed. There are however interesting patterns
My rating is not towards the book, but rather how it stood up to what I was expecting, which was more patterns with wool as opposed to embroidery thread. I prefer working with wool as it goes faster, so I was a bit disappointed. There are however interesting patterns.
