We see his lonely path back to New York, carrying the weight of his family’s deaths and facing more heartbreak along the way, and at the same time, Casey Jones’ daughter raising a new generation of turtles. The four new turtles aren’t as iconic as the originals, and honestly, it would be nearly impossible for them to be, but they represent rebirth and the saga coming full circle. It’s both tragic and hopeful, and it makes the saga feel complete. The hardcover itself feels solid. The glossy pages make the art shine, and while the spine creaks when open, I hope this doesn’t affect durability since I'm nearing the 30-day return window... Together, the two hardcovers belong side by side: one closes the past, the other opens the future. Is the first book better? Sure. But this is a worthy read.
