Born to Rebel: An Autobiography

A good perspective on the early days of the civil rights movement.
One has the opportunity to view the early civil rights movement through the eyes of this intelligent man. His childhood home still stands. It is located in the Mays Historic Center in Greenwood, SC, about 8 miles from his birthplace. His own struggles with his prejudices are set forth int his book. The book talks about he he truly pulled himself up by his own bootstraps, except in the era in which he grew up, society cut off his bootstraps. A must read.

A keeper
I encourage young Black men to read this book and see how a person with a dream of being educated achieved his dream of education and more. I have all of Mays books. I wish I could have met him and shook his hand.

Good bio.
I have so much to read but started this interesting biography. When I finish it, it'll probably earn that fifth star.
