Q: Is this product made of a solid material like starboard

It's solid plastic, but I don't know how similar it is to "starboard" material.

Q: How far apart are the screw holes What is the size

Screw holes ar 2-3/4 apart but the biggest concern is the exposed sharp edges on the knife that is sitting it the holder so would not recommend this one for that reason

Q: What are the dimensions of this? I have an access opening I'd like to cover with something like this.

Just received one, it is 6 3/4 inches tall and 6 5/16 inches wide...it is not 7 x7. It is made of lightweight plastic, recessed on the backside. It will likely last 2 to 3 years in the open weather...if it was made of starboard, it would last 20 years
