Q: Out of the two plugs, which one is for mic and what color plug is for the headphone?

This headset features a single plug option as well as a dual plug. If you are using the dual plug option the green stripes are for the headphones and the pink stripes are for the microphone. If you look closely at the plug it will have a picture designating which plug is for what.

Q: Is this headset good for YouTube?

It'll work but (1) the audio quality from the headphones isn't as good as from dedicated headphones, and (2) it's not clear why you'd need the microphone functionality for YouTube (unless you're making your own videos, in which case it would be OK). I use it for Skype, and it's OK, balancing nicely between the mediocre sound quality of most Skype conversations and the mediocre quality of this unit. For the price, it's just fine... But don't expect amazing audio at this price point.

Q: does it work with an iphone or ipad jack where the mic is combined with stereo?

Yes it does. It comes with a Y adapter if you need to separate the mike from the headphones. My new ultra-book comes with one input jack for headphones and mike. The AC-204 fits the bill
