is this very thin to floss with ? as I am struggling to get the floss through the gaps in my teeth once I have got it under the brace

I have trouble getting the floss between my teeth. I use it at work. For comparison, I use Oral B essential floss at home and I have an easier time with this, it seems a thinner. My hygienist recently recommended that I should use tape, rather than a rounded thread. For braces (wore them for years myself) you can also check out TePe or any brand interdental brushes, it's sometimes possible to kind of floss with them, depending on your teeth.
