Used mainly for electric slide playing in open tuning.** A: Yes , I recommend it, nickel wound steel strings are also often used on e-guitars with single coils or humbucker. It´s 016/018/028/038/049/059 for G-Tuning **Q: are they ok for a cigar box resonator.** A: The John Pearse strings are 16 gauge to 58 so they are big strings, if your cigar box guitar is up to it you could try them, or if you are in slack low tunings. These are too big for a regular wood bodied guitar and to tuned to G would probably belly the bridge and cause all sorts of problems. They are great strings for slide but only on something built strong with a thick neck. I would suggest 13's in a nickel as nickel is better than phosphor bronze for instruments with a pickup. i hope this helps :) **Q: What is the tuning?** A: On the pack it says G .
