Power of the Soul: Inside Wisdom for an Outside World

A Great Book Full of Excellent Advice and Wisdom
I read power of the Soul several months ago, but never got around to reviewing it. Someone in my family had told me about John Holland, and I suspect it was a sibling who had listened to one of his lectures. I put this on my wish list for a long time before I bought the kindle edition. This is a great book. Early on, Holland writes "I don't believe in coincidences, and I feel that it's not a random act that you picked up this book at this point in time in your life." (Cut to Twilight zone music ) Seriously, he's right in my opinion. There either is a spiritual reality or there isn't. I believe there is, and that we are sometimes influenced by it, perhaps often influenced by that other or parallel world. Especially when we are open to it.Holland also wrote "I believe that our soul purpose is (1) to be all that we can be, and (2) to live our lives in alignment with our highest good." Who could argue with that? (I know - a selfish, ego centered materialist!).What Holland writes is very much in keeping with the philosophy of most religions. For instance "But it isn't about becoming the president of a company, winning awards, or saving the world. It's more about affecting people and the planet it a positive way. My soul purpose isn't so much related to becoming a well-known psychic medium, author, or teacher (abilities and talents that were provided for me to use) rather, it's about influencing and having a positive effect on others."Who can argue with what he writes? I highlighted and typed up five and a half pages of his quotes, quotes that I felt were worth repeating, worth re-reading and thinking about. If you are reading this review, you have some idea as to what this book is about. All I can say is that it is very much worth reading and thinking about, and Holland's advice is worth paying heed to in your own life. We are the source of most of our own problems. We are the only ones who can fix ourselves. I strongly recommend buying and reading this book. You may not agree with everything the author writes, but there is much in this book that could benefit your life. And yes, it really is about influencing and having a positive effect on others and the planet, unless you are a self-centered, ego-maniacal automaton. Put the phone down. Stop text messaging for 2 minutes, and think about it. Buy and read this book.

Soul Saver
Like everyone else, my world seemed to be crashing down upon me. I was turned onto "The Secret" by a friend and into the Hicks/Abraham books. I was amazed to find that I already practiced/believed some things they teach. My mother read Jane Roberts/Seth, but I couldn't get into those books. When I was at a low point, I went into Amazon.com and somehow, I found this book. Thank you Amazon.com! This book has helped me face my demons, change my thought process and become happy. No, it didn't happen overnight, but it has happened. My daily stress headaches have become less often. I'm actually practicing the exercises and moving along slowly. My first impression in some of the sections was "yeah, right, uh-huh". Then I re-read and I'm actually understanding. He writes so you can understand and practice. Some sections I would actually cry during the exercises, but kept going. I plan to purchase the paperback copy just so I will have a copy with me if I start to crash and he indicates this happens. At least he tells us how we can achieve inner peace/harmony and you have to work for it. Sappy, but, I can't explain how important this book has been for me and my life.

One of the Great Teachers of The Early 21st Century
John Holland is one of the least pretentious, most fast-talking, hilarious psychic-mediums you could ever hope to meet.James Van Pragh is also up there with him. There do exist many, many more wonderful teachers, and these guysare Hay House Publishing stars who "lecture" and give workshops. I also want to shout out Ram Dass and Belleruth Naparstek. But it's very grounded. Very good real-life advice. John's bright and earnest energy helps him teach about how to get to the bottom of one's own intuitive side. Quickly! He does have weekend and week-long workshops for those who want to go deeper. He gives fascinating messages. But Holland's giant gift, I feel, is making death much less of a walled-off subject: He demystifies and lightens up the dying process(the horror of which seems to have been drummed into people by psychic shows on TV, which are highly editedand of course horror movies for people who don't endure enough trauma in their daily lives:)

Loved it!
I really did enjoy this book. I have read many books on this topic within the last year and I am still amazed at who we are at the core. Even if you are not sure if this is for you, I say give it a try, you may just be surprised. I have learned that sometimes it may take a hint of an idea or thought to enter our psyche a few times before we truly will begin to entertain an idea as an actual possibility. So I don't worry about this being for you fully, I like to think of it as a part of my journey. I take in each moment what resonates with me and leave the rest. If I want to review the topic further later, then I will. If not, then I trust the process and keep it moving.Much love and blessings to you all!

Looking inside is the first step
How do you know what's right for you if you don't know who you are? This book will help you take the steps you need to find your inner self -- your soul. It's very non-airy fairy -- it's a very well-grounded, practical book about how to get there. As Holland points out when telling a story about an artist friend, you probably already *are* in the flow and connecting with your soul more than you know. The book is filled with straight-forward yet highly effective ways to reach out to your soul...through gratitude, through love, through keeping a dream journal. The author also share snippets from his own life and his own path, allowing the reader to experience how he found *his* path.
