Great Phone for Domestic / International Use at a Good Price
Overall, a great mid-range priced phone particularly suitable for those who live here in the USA but who travel internationally. Very pleased with this purchase. Most phones sold here in the USA - particularly those sold by US cell carriers - are designed to operate primarily on USA cellular frequencies which makes them of limited use when traveling overseas. This is an international phone, designed primarily to operate in other countries, many of which use common 4G and 5G bands which are not used in the USA. But the phone has decent USA band coverage as well, so for a person like me it works well. But the buyer should still do their homework to make sure the phone is compatible with their chosen carrier's networks and frequencies. It's also a dual-SIM phone which, for me, is a must. When traveling internationally, I can keep my USA SIM active and simply pop in a local SIM for the country I'm in and have both lines active without having to constantly switch SIMs. That's a great feature for international travel, and it works well.As for the phone itself - works great and fully featured for a mid-range Android. While the phone came with Android 12, an upgrade to Android 13 was waiting and installed easily. Very quick charging with the supplied charger and excellent battery life - especially compared to the Pixel 6 which this phone replaced. Nice screen. Decent camera. 128K storage is more than ample.Unlike some other phones, Xiaomi adds their own user interface layer (called MIUI) on top of the Android system, which changes the interface somewhat from native Android, but which keeps all Android features while adding some additional ones. I quickly came to like it better than the native Android user layer.Overall - very pleased. A lot of phone for the price.

Does NOT work with Mint T-Mobile or Tello as Advertised. Now I'm stuck with mint mobile service with no compatible phone, and this phone with no compatible service.

Unfortunately, Xiaomi has somewhat broken my trust.
A family member wanted a new cheap phone, and I really pushed for this one. It made a fool out of me.I have been a long-time fan of Xiaomi products. I find their equipment to be the best "bang for your buck" on the market. My last three phones (Red Note 4, Red Note 9, POCO F3), razor, and screwdriver are all Xiaomi products. This phone is, judging by the specifications, simply the ultimate phone that you can buy in this price range. It even has a headphone jack and an FM radio.I can recommend Xiaomi products in general, but not this one. It has serious problems. The biggest one is that it doesn't receive calls over Mint Mobile (which uses T-Mobile's GSM bands). It simply doesn't. When the phone is unlocked, it works *sometimes*, when it is locked, it *never* receives calls or texts. Calls have also dropped in the middle, and it has failed to make outgoing calls. Sometimes the caller gets sent to voicemail, other times you hear a voice say "the subscriber you have dialed is out of service."Another issue is that Visual Voicemail doesn't work despite being confirmed to have been set up properly by the carrier. The battery also drains fairly fast by default unless you customize specific apps' power settings, but that's just a Xiaomi thing that I'm used to dealing with. It can be fixed with superuser apps.We tried *everything*.1. Enable Autostart for the Google Phone app (the setting doesn't exist, *specifically* for that app).2. Reset network settings, reboot the phone.3. Change APN settings to: Mint Mobile Wholesale, T-Mobile Fast, and default T-Mobile.4. Flash the EEA ROM hoping for better compatibility with T-Mobile.5. Use Tasker to keep the phone app's main activity running every time the screen is locked. And much, much more.I think there were two underlying issues that presented similar symptoms:1. The Google Phone app is killed when the screen locks. Changing battery optimization or power saving settings does not affect this.2. The phone lacks proper vendor support/firmware to harness the 5G and LTE bands used by T-Mobile/Mint Mobile.Considering that the phone says "ONLY T-Mobile, Mint, Tello, USA Market", this item was returned as "not as advertised."What a shame, but it's possible we got a melon. The family member did not want to try again.
