First hike and looking forward to many more
Looked long and hard at all possible options before choosing RoccoPet. After our first hike, 3 miles, I am definitely looking forward to many more. This backpack is well padded for the wearer and seems very comfortable for our 11 pound dog who has one lame leg. It’s not a cheap-o, flimsy pack. There is good air flow for the wearer and the passenger. I didn’t get too sweaty wearing it and the padding on the shoulder straps was more than sufficient. The internal tether and the extra chest strap on this pack are a must have feature with her so high and out of my sight. LOTS of zippered pockets, waist and chest straps with large buckles were easy to tighten and loosen and are also necessary for my comfort. I am used to hiking with an Osprey brand daypack and this is nearly as comfortable. It’s a bit heavier than a quality daypack due to the waterproof bottom but the rigidity of the base combined with the included tension poles that fit inside the pack maintain the correct form and keep the pack from collapsing in on her when she’s inside. The first effort made her a bit nervous but the 2nd time I popped her inside she knew what to expect and settled right down. She rode with her head sticking out of the pack and was enjoying the lift. The outer chest strap for the dog can be tightened which combined with the internal tether kept her from jumping out. The chest strap for the pup on the outside of the pack isn’t obvious so be sure to look for it for extra security, at least with the first few uses. I placed a hand towel in the bottom of the pack to keep her more comfy and to dry her feet. With so many zippered pockets and internal room, this is one purchase we will be using a lot! It will be great for shopping, dining out, sightseeing as well as day hiking with a small 4 legged companion. Really pleased with our initial outing using this pack. No regrets!

Surprisingly sturdy!
Bought this for my puppy so I can get him used to being outside before he's fully vaccinated and cleared to go on walks. He's a ten week old, 9.5lb Shiba Inu and he fits with more than enough room, especially with the front open for his face to peek out. The backpack is really nice quality and will be something I will use even after my pup grows out of it. It has stabilizing poles that keep the bag's shape really well, as well as straps that go across the chest and waist to make it more stable. The inside of the bag features and clasp to hook your pup's harness too in case they try to jump out which gives me peace of mind, however it works a little too well and I struggle to release the harness from it sometimes to my pup's frustration. Overall I love this backpack, its great quality and serves its purpose well!

Great backpack for an older / smaller dog
I have a 8 yo, ~10# dog that can't always keep up with his "sisters." They are younger, more energetic, and more stamina. I bring along this pack for when Coda gets tired. Sometimes he stays up with his younger sisters, and sometimes he poops out. He's very happy in the pack, watches the world go by, and might curl up to take a nap. It does get warm in the pack if you're hiking in the afternoon in the sun, so I try to keep the pack as unzipped as possible. There's mesh on the sides and front, so it is breathable. There's also a small lead with a clip inside the pack, which I attach to his harness. He seems to appreciate the ride and the pack itself is sturdy and comfy to wear. I appreciate the waist strap a lot! I tried some dog packs without waist straps and found that my neck, shoulders and back really ached after carrying him around for awhile. The waist strap makes all the difference.

Great backpack!
The media could not be loaded. This bag is really great, has so many pockets, plenty of room for your dog and supplies. A lot of people complained about not a space for water bottle but if you have a bladder it fits perfectly in the back pocket. The rods go in the back pocket with the bladder snapped into clips (took me awhile and a YouTube video to figure it out). Lots of straps to make it comfortable and fit, plenty of strap for small-med frame build person, straps are comfy. only complaint is not enough padding behind the hard platform on the bottom of bag. Will make adjustments for it, other than that it’s really good quality and great bag! It’s lightweight, I have a 13-15lb westie in total was about 20-22lbs and she fits snugly. She was very content and felt safe. Stayed in when it was unzipped… it’s a good quality for a great price!

Not for short people
I am 5 ft 1 inch. This backpack is on the longer side and the way it is designed the bottom seam where the hard plastic meets the backpack materials cuts into my spine in a most uncomfortable way. This is when it’s empty without the weight of a dog inside. There are many points of adjustment, but I wasn’t able to get it to a location that was comfortable. The pack is a softer material and comes with some metal ribs to keep the material stabilized while the dog is inside. The pack top does fully open to make it easy to train the dog to get into the pack.

Very Hot, for dogs, had to return
I really wanted to like this bag because I appreciate the extra straps for adjusting the fit. However, my dog just immediately overheats so as soon as I put them in there because there’s very little ventilation. Moore who needs a laptop slot which only increases the amount of heat in the dog compartment. This works OK in a very cold climate. Unfortunately the chest strap buckle broke off within two weeks. I needed to return this to try one with more mesh compartments and without a laptop compartment. also, the weight of the dog tended to create a dig into my lower back despite him being only 10 pounds.

Awesome
No doubt that this backpack is a tad pricy, however you definitely get what you at for.Just be careful that your dog or cat isn't too big. I'd say a pet over 15lbs is too big. (In my opinion only) My 10lb Cavapoo fits just right, (she's about 12 inches tall, floor to shoulder)Product is very well made, it's sturdy, and comfortable for human to wear. Also stable for pet as it has both stomach and neck straps that work in concert with shoulder straps. I've gone on 4hr hikes and barely noticed pack was on at times. This is the third pack I've owned, and my fave one to date. I have zero issues recommending this to other prospective buyers, I personally think it's awesome.Only issue I really have is the clip inside the pet compartment. It could definitely be more sturdy. If my pupper was bigger, I'd be concerned with its ability to hold her inside, so something to think about.Hope that helps!

Impressive
I needed something that could carry my Yorkie and my laptop & miscellaneous items. This has a dedicated section for your own items. Although there is no laptop sleeve, the whole bag is padded, so it’s safe in there. I’m sure I can fit my essentials for air travel, as this will replace my normal everyday pack I usually fly with. But, since I plan on taking him next time, this will work. The bag is well thought out, with lots of extra pockets, including one on the back. The hard bottom ensures it won’t collapse. There are both waist and sternum straps, and I like that the shoulder straps can be stored for when we are in a car and are using a seatbelt to secure the bag on the rear seat. As long as it wears well, I see this as being an excellent & useful purchase.

Great for brining my Schnauzer on public transit and hiking
My city's transit system requires dogs be fully enclosed in carriers when riding the bus. Many of the bags I were looking at were not designed in that way, instead allowing the head to stick out. I take my 19.5lb miniature schnauzer on 2-4 bus trips a week, 20-35 mins each. Since switching to this bag from the duffle style dog carrier my life has become so much easier. By the second trip he was getting in without any struggle or resistance. The bag is comfortable to wear with him in it once all adjustments are made. I was a little worried he may not fit, as he has long legs for a mini schnauzer. But he does great it and seems to like being on my back rather than carried in the duffle style bag. There are lots of storage compartments etc to keep waste bags, treats or some other things. Though i would not put much in it at the same times as when I have the dog in it since my dog is closer to the upper limit this bag was intended for.The zippers feel a little cheap and it is very easy to snag them on the flap that goes over them. But they do the job.

Great Buy for travelling with Pup
My 10lb terrier fits really well in this bag and it allows us to take her snowmobiling and quadding to remote locations. Feels like it’s built well. Worthwhile purchase.
