Great book. Easy to read, insightful and very useful. A must but for any general or trauma surgeon.

Although I am not a surgeon, I found this book very interesting right from the beginning to the very end. Although I am not a surgeon, I found this book a very interesting reading, indeed. It shows how extremely demanding this occupation is, no doubt that the two authors are real TOP KNIVES. May I recommend this title to anyone looking for an insight into trauma surgery, Also, I would say that for a young surgeon starting to learn the craft of surgery it's almost like a bible. Excellent work, including the numerous illustrations.

I'm a transplant surgeon. This has proven to be incredibly useful. Its all highly transferable skills. An absolute joy to read.

This book has been written by two genuine trauma surgeons, and by genuine I mean proper holistic trauma surgeons as opposed to UK trauma surgeons who are simply orthopaedic surgeons masquerading as more than they are, who must have been punch dunk on exhilaration. The similarities drawn to Top Gun are laugh out loud moments. But, educationally, it is a cleverly written, quick to digest book.

I was recently reminded of this book during an online discussion about surgical texts. My residency program was not heavy on penetrating trauma so I purchased Top Knife a few years ago as a "How To" guide for the oral boards. I could not have been more pleased with that decision. Top Knife is succinct yet detailed, timely yet timeless and dare I say it, funny! Several times throughout the book the authors will state something to the effect of. "The books tell you to do X; we have never been able to get X to work. If you can, please share your secret with us!" Maybe I'm easily amused but those passages made me laugh out loud as most books are filled with impractical advice that would never work outside of BMS or some other rarified theatre. We now recommend this to our residents as reading for their trauma rotation and board exams. It's that good.
