Fits easily. Stays in torch for recharge and is robust.

I use my Petzl Zipka primarily for work, and the last thing I need is for the light to die at an inconvenient moment. So I use the core battery day-to day, with a set of aaa batteries waiting in the wings as backup. I can get 5 hours of use from the core battery, switching between 100 lumens and 300 lumens. Constant full brightness gives me 2 hours and 10 minutes. If Petzl had made the headlamp power a proprietary battery, then I would have been very disappointed. But the fact that the core is simply an accessory, to boost the level of convenience is spot on. Which is exactly why I purchased it. The core takes three hours to charge from a 1amp charger.

Having a rechargeable battery does allow me to use the headtourch without concern for finding and replacing the AAA's. For the money it is a lot of AAA's, so will have to be using it none stop this winter.

Does the advertised job well and charges relatively quickly. Only criticism is needs updating with USB-C charging. Enjoying no longer using up endless batteries and facing dilemma of whether to replace part uaed ones before trips.

I don't know how I've managed without this for so long. I've been using AAA's until they run out and then replacing them. This avoids all that faff with a great batter life and quick charging.I use mine for trail running at night and it will usually give me at least four hours of good light.I would give it 5 stars but it's not cheap. I can't fault the actual unit, but if it were at a £10 price point, I'd have bought more.

This is the third Core battery I’ve got - the first game with the headlamp direct from Petzl and worked fine. I then decided to buy a spare from Amazon. The first one wouldn’t hold its charge, Amazon replaced it and the second one won’t hold its charge either!!! Extremely frustrating for what othetwise seems to be a quality product!!UPDATE!!!!!!!!! Having phoned Petzl to complain about TWO duff batteries, the guy in Customer Support (Simon) has solved the problem. If you open the battery compartment and check that the lower right hand connection is properly proud - if not lever it out with a small screwdriver - this can often solve the problem. It did in my case! There seems to be a design issue with the CORE battery pack in that the +ve terminal is very prominent and if you insert it the wrong way round say, it compresses the lower right battery contact and the battery won’t necessarily work!On this basis my * rating goes to 4* - not 5 as there’s onviously a design fault inherent in the CORE battery pack.
