DMT D2K 2.5-Inch Dia-Sharp Diamond Mini-Hone Kit of C/F/E - Multi-Colour

I can't say any of the DMT stuff is value for money - it's just so expensive. However, is is super-effective. These little hones are not particularly robust, but with light pressure they should last and they do give you a good edge quickly. No trouble sorting out the garden shears (planning to shave with them next week after they've dulled down a bit...).

These are excellent for maintaining a good edge on knives and other items. They are easy to use and also effective in removing sharp edges from glass and ceramics.

Work very well at what they do and I used them to put an edge back onto a circular saw blade whilst in situ (and unplugged). However given the premium price and high brand value name DMT, they do feel a little flimsy. I'm sure that with care they will last long enough and be a useful tool in my sharpening box, but somehow I expected a little more heft.Overall a decent set of diamond hones that work well on small edges.

Have used once for sharpening three garden pruners which were still cutting but not very well so tried about 50 strokes per file total working down through grits, Have sharpened ok but worn blackened ( therefore lost cutting layer? ) spots and 0.5cm black more dotted areas already appearing on all three files as well as silvery "scratch" marks over half of green file area. So either its a very thin layer or not fixed very well- maybe only for rather delicate final finishing use? I haven't any experience of using such, and may have pressed too hard at times in both one direction and circular motion( but not that hard!) , - May try using coarser grit first next time but surely for this price per small file the build should cope with this use. Really useful and very easy to carry around - and they get the job done fast !

After having spent months poring over whether to consider this as an alternative solution to yomping our KAI and other scissors or shears to overpriced kitchen shops in north london which would have cost more than the price of one set of shears and which in any case now most of which do not even appear to offer sharpening of anything other than knives any longer, we took the plunge and purchased this.Having first contacted acme international's customer support in order to enquire after instructional content covering thede sharpeners as there are a lot of products on their website and extremely limited resources around exactly how to use this particular one, we were directed to a single short low resolution video with very basic and what we now believe to be incorrect information, along with another sales video which had nothing to do with this item whatsoever.On enquiring a second time as to whether acme or its child company dmt had access to any further instructional content, their support representative replied claiming that he had 'done some digging on youtube' and included links to unrelated third party content on the platform. These also proved limited in terms of usable training on the product in question.A third and final attempt to contact the manufacturer by telephone resulted in a 15 minute long hold on a call to malborough, usa, after which the company's automated response system just stated that there were no operators available to take the call and that a name and number should be left for contact purposes, which we provided. No response was ever received.On purchasing the product it became apparent that there are no instructions included with the item itself whatsoever. Trying to implement steps outlined in the aforementioned video linked to by dmt's support proved unsuccessful as the information provided is not comprehensive enough by any means, and attempting to find detailed usage instructions on the internet proved fruitless.The tipping point in our decision to return this purchase took place after having attempted to use the three 'hones' to sharpen one set of scissors and one set of shears, after which it became very clear to us that both implements were in fact significantly more blunt AFTER having used these dmt products. We tried to rectify this with several further attempts at sharpening which only made things objectively worse.It is not unreasonable to ask for or expect comprehensive and understandable instructions for product usage supplied by the actual manufacturer, which this item is almost completely lacking. The public can not be expected to magically figure out how to use sharpening tech such as this or better yet, just 'have a feel for it'.Provide detailed instructions on how to use your product or expect used returns such as the one outlined in this review.
