I didn't expect much. I will not say this is a golden instrument to be laid with great treasures or anything. But it is sufficient and functional. It is a little pleasure.Now, it's not really for making music. It seems more to be related to the spiritual creation of dissonance, and helping the user either develop that for others or work through it on their own. Not a concept, I think, at least in this fashion, that most Westerners would natively appreciate. If you buy it, I simply recommend that you understand it with that perspective. It won't fulfill you, it is merely a tool for a very specific learning and teaching, if you believe in that. Or something to put on your wall I suppose. Otherwise it will merely, probably, be an annoyance. Which dissonance is, actually, so... understand what you are buying. *wink*

First I found out that my drum looks exactly like the picture and that both heads sound very slightly different from each other. I then helped both heads sound better by applying some non-petroleum/non-mineral oil hand creme twice, a week apart. It sounds even better and will occasionally make a great grogger.

Got this as a gift for a 1 year old thinking it was a drum you hit with your fingertips. Was about to return but when I let him hold it his smile was amazing. This drum works my using the strap for your fingers and twisting your wrist, as noted in the product details. Either the measurements weren’t there initially or I read them incorrectly. Most likely the latter, so do not expect a big drum. This is fun, however, and makes a neat sound when played.The quality seems great thus far, the wood is thick and dark and the hide is also thick and tight. "Small" is the key word here. Very, very, very small is more accurate.

What a great price on this little drum. I use it in therapy so I'm not a pro- musician, not even a music therapist. But it is surprisingly nice quality for the price. Small- so higher pitched sound from both fingers and the beads. About as big as a large hand.

This is a great little drum that is played using the same wrist action you would use to turn a door knob or handle.As you rotate the drum back and forth, the two wooden beads flail and strike the drum heads on either side of the drum.This drum is fun to play and easy to learn. This would be a great addition to your local drum circle!

Part of the hole design on the top is not all the way cut out, so the block does not produce all the tones it is supposed to. We get three notes and a "thud". Meh.
